Ob1, it was not my intention to make you feel as if you are less important than a movie. That allegation is absurd. It's also absurd to think that I am at a computer or device 24/7, and can respond to every single thing that comes across the screen. I sent the PM, youposted a comment calling me a name within minutes of that, I deleted it, then watched the movie thinking you would calm down about calling a moderating knight in a Jedi Temple names, like a child , and would address the issue more appropriately. Instead you post this thread.
By 'under no obligation to respond' I should have modified that to read 'in your specified timeline'. Is there some countdown clock by your computer that read 'X number of minutes til public spectacle commences', where if you don't receive exactly the response you want you begin to caterwal in a public forum? This whole thread is ...ill advised, to say the least.
I'm not trying to censor you. I don't even know you. We have never had a conversation that I know of. I have nothing against you personally. But if someone reports a post, I usually err on the side of caution and remove it. Because either someone within the temple is offended enough by it to report it, and I leave it, thus offending them, or I remove it, and hopefully the poster gets the picture that this is a Jedi Temple, not 4chan, and to behave appropriately. Obviously the latter didn't happen here.
Could I have told you so more sweetly? Sure. I do not have the time or patience to do so. Perhaps that is a character flaw.
I'm tired of it. Very tired , all the time, and this isn't helping. Also have the flu or something today so maybe that's inflecting my mindset, maybe not. But I am not going to be doing this moderating thing for an extended period . If it becomes permanent, so be it. That's up to the council and I.
Have a good one.

Nobility: To act with honour.
A Jedi does not engage in petty, mean or otherwise dubious activities. Acting with stature and distinction influences others, offering a compelling example of what can be achieved by those who follow Jediism.
Discipline: To let the self be sole master of the self.
A Jedi’s mind is structured, peaceful, unencumbered by emotions, physical state or external stimuli.
Intervention: To know when not to act.
A Jedi knows how inaction can have as great an impact as action and how some of the greatest lessons are self-taught. To be a victor is also taking that victory from those you protect. A Jedi intervenes only when a Jedi's intervention is required.
Harmony: To be connected to the Force.
A Jedi seeks to live in harmony with the Force, for that is the reason to be a Jedi. To better understand its ways, to better know one's place within it.

But if someone reports a post, I usually err on the side of caution and remove it.
When someone reports something to the cops, the cops have to investigate whether a crime was committed, they err on the side of caution by assuming everyone's innocent, then find out who actually is guilty of something. And even when a crime was committed, they don't always pursue it....
Let's look at this hypothetical situation.
A:-Black people are more likely to commit a violent crime
B:-You are racist, I am reporting you.
A:- Why so confrontational?
C:- Locking thread/ Deleting post.
[strike]

[strike]E:- I think police profiling methods cause a vicious circle.[/strike]
A makes a statement (which may be true or false)
B makes a personal attack and acted anti-socially by reporting A's comment
A asks a question
C censors A, and endorses B's personal attack
D didn't get to tell his story.
E doesn't look at police profiling methods or statistics and doesn't share his findings
Conclusion: Everyone loses.
Convictions are more dangerous foes of truth than lies.

Both parties could have handled the situation better (Br. John certainly contributed in the way that would have been expected from an administrator), but it's time to get over it. Nobody's perfect.

I started over.
It was something along these lines (I don't remember the exact words) and I'm editing it to fit the current evens.
Hello Moderator,
I see you deleted my post #5225222 and I was hoping you could help me understand why. I know you're busy and I appreciate your time. I'm confused because the post right before mine used the same words and has multiple "Thank You's" and yet it's still there. When you have a chance I'd appreciate your assistance. Thanks a million, John
Do y'all think the outcome was different for me this time?

They never helped my cause but they made me feel better for the moment. One time when I was about to hit SEND I was interrupted and got back to the computer an hour later. My venomous email was there waiting for me. I re-read it and (having cooled down) it occurred to me how I'd react if I got an email like that.

wonder if the person who originally reported Ob1's post in the other thread is secretly laughing and eating popcorn as this all unravels.
No, this is making that person sick, pissed, sad, and leaving TOTJO...
Probably not as humorous....
Edit: considering leaving TOTJO...

Sorry about that. I was trying to lighten up the mood. Online drama will happen from time to time, it is inevitable. Not worth leaving TOTJO though, IMO.

This would be very unfortunate as I would imagine said individual is probably rather respected in the community as a whole. I should hope that the reactions and outbursts of one individual over a single incident would not taint someone's view of the community to that degree, though I would also understand entirely if they did...
