WE ARE HAVING THIS CONVERSATION

so, i noticed my monogamy topic got closed

i sent desolous this PM - which he ignored

"its your decision to close or not and if you really think that was the only way we could keep things at a basically adult level then i guess do whatever you think is right,

but the topic of that thread is a worthwhile conversation to have, and the hostilities were actually being handled pretty maturely - i dont see there was any need to close it

imo its better for the whole community to be able to see tensions handled in an adult way - which they were being so handled - rather than to see "OMG DONT STEP OUT OF LINE OR THEY LOCK YOU DOWN" "

then

in the political correctness thread i used the words "f*gs" and "ni**rs" in the context of "most of the people who whine about PC are the ones who want to be able to say "f*gs" and n**rs in public and then turn it around and say "youre being a baby dont be so PC man"

and i used the * symbol in the post also

before i finished writing the PM to desolous, he sent me this PM

"Watch your language. I don't care if it is in a thread on political correctness."

so i responded with this

is that why you closed my thread, cause you dont like the way i talk?

did you tell tzb to watch his language too?

to which he has still not responded

i opened a new topic and he deleted that

so i think ive been singled out because des has a personal grudge and im going to see this resolved

my idea of a resolution is that he can apologize to me, open my thread back up, and agree not to harass me ever again

im assuming that this is not a likely outcome on his part, and am asking for feedback and intervention from THE REST OF THE COMMUNITY

You may have had a point ... perhaps several.

But you are being a bit of a "jerk" about the way you are insisting on your point(s). And "fair" doesn't have much to do with it.

If Des - or any other moderator - closes your thread and/or deletes your comments, it is because it is felt that they are inappropriately expressed, not because it doesn't merit discussion.

However, "discussion" needs to remain relatively productive, progressive and not just centrifugal poo-slinging.

So, don't insist. Please ...

I didn't see anything I felt needed censorship, but I don't have Des' experience here, as an admin, either.

I prefer organic conversation, even the painful parts.

Here, I think it goes with out saying, that off opinions in subjects are essential to the types of conversations we have.(I wouldn't call them debates.)

Ob... I care about you and don't want you to burn bridges here. I am on your side.

That said, I think all of the parties involved in that other thread just need to take a step back and regain some perspective.

Please don't be angry at me for saying this... but we all just really need to calm down and realize why we're here.

tzb's comment is still there, in full spelling

since i attempted to communicate with him privately and he ignored me, i made the conversation public

if im being a jerk it is because i was being ignored as a nice guy - so now i am saying i want an apology and i want my thread re opened
and i want him to acknowledge that he misbehaved and make an apology AS A JEDI

in actuality i know thats not likely, but what i do achieve with this is that the situation is made public and will be remembered and if he continues his abuse towards others who he personally dislikes then it will be that much easier for said others to make the case

You don't see what threads or posts are reported by our membership as offensive (or otherwise problematic, idk, I don't either). The mods do.

As far as I saw it Des locked your thread for the rather personal discussion which you had nothing to do with... as such I certainly didn't think its being locked had any personal bearing on you.

well thats what i thought too until i saw that the deleted my comment in the PC thread and sent me the "watch your mouth" PM

did you get such a PM?

he also ignored me when i tried to talk to him about it - and continued to delete my public responses

so im sorry if i pushed in a way that refused to be ignored, but i was being ignored lol

and fairness IS important here - maybe life itself isnt fair, but as jedi WE ARE, as much as possible at least

its a valid point that i dont see what others find offensive

but its equally valid that you and i used the same exact words, except you spelled them out enitirely whereas i used the * synbol to censer them a bit, and i was chosen while you were not

I asked Des to temporarily close the thread because there were a few unnecessarily heated comments... If you want to take issue with that then please come to me.

Des has not misbehaved, he has done his job as a forum mod. Not agreeing with his actions doesn't mean he has abused his position.

Even the post of the closing stated it was a temporary thing. Tempers were getting heated.... It's not meant as an attack on you, but rather just to force everyone to step back and take a chill pill....

No, I didn't. But I didn't see the context of your post, potential "report to mod" reports, etc etc. What I'm saying is that neither of us have the full picture.

Were I to receive such a message I'd adjust my language accordingly. Des and Adder have been appointed by the Council as moderators of our Temple, a frankly thankless and tough task. A condition of posting here is to submit your posts to their moderation, and whilst they are human and fallible from my perspective a more appropriate way of dealing with concerns about their moderation would be to address a message to the Council that appointed them.
