Whoa!

This blew up.

Obi: I am under no obligation to answer to you. That is all. You may demand u til you are blue in the face and or fingers fall off. But nothing will come of it.

Your post was reported as offensive. As such, I deleted it. Then you PM me as if you are my superior officer. You are not. I owe you no explanation. I suppose other than, sorry you feel you being abused? You are not. A post was reported , then deleted. A follow up post with an abusive comment was then also deleted. Nothing personal in the slightest.

Chill, bro. You seriously need to relax.

Edit: posted this then read the thread. I was watching Enders Game. It's pretty good. Have you guys seen it?

Kamizu wrote: OB, I may be reading into this but it sounds like you're throwing a tantrum. If Des didn't respond to a PM, perhaps something took him offline. He doesn't live here. There are also other mods that have those kind of powers. Are you sure (with proof) he was responsible for all of this? Or are you looking for an outlet for your anger?

You also don't know who else got PMs about their words. And that's not for you to know.

i have no way of knowing whats going on with him or anyone else

what i do know is that tzb and i both said the same thing and i was deleted

i asked him why i was deleted and i was ignored

when i started speaking publicly i was deleted again

at this point im ALMOST tired of the conversation

im not angry - but if anyone thinks that "watch your language -- DELETE/IGNORE" is the way to have a healthy respectful and mature forum for discussion then i submit that it is not

Your past posts may or may not have been miss handled. I didn't see them and I don't see what the mods are doing. You DON'T know if you're being ignored. I know it feels that way but you really are jumping the gun with that accusation.

What I do know is this is a rather inappropriate way to handle it on your part. If you feel you can't handle it at the lowest level (with Des) then you go one step up. Another mod. To put him on blast like this is childish and inappropriate. And I'm rather shocked about it coming from you honestly. I always saw you as the too easy going kind of guy. This is NOT a mature or respectful way of handling your grievances with another person

• 1) If you feel aggrieved by another person's actions and behaviours, and wish to resolve it as a mature adult would, speak with them. If they don't answer immediately, give it time. This is the internet - we're spread around the world, most of us have lives, and those lives are not always spent on here. Much is lost in translation, and communication usually does not happen in real time.

• 2) If you do not get a satisfactory response, either...

- A: Bring it up with a peer of theirs, someone who is neutral or impartial, if you're still interested in resolving it as a mature adult would. Or,
- B: Post a forum thread detailing a litany of grievances and complaints for all to see, without the other party even present to explain their own actions. This has the nice side effect of making you the centre of attention and creating a dramafest, but it's rather poor form. It also shows that you have absolutely no respect for the other party whatsoever.

I disagree with the actions taken, but I disagree 10000% more with the fact that this thread even exists. Take a deep breath, walk away, think this whole thing over and come back to it with a cool head. If I had $20, I'd bet you $20 that even you will find it silly to have done all this after that. Sadly, I don't have $20, and I'm not a betting man anyways. So it goes.

this was mostly a great post

if i find myself in a similar situation in the future i will be more patient

you might feel different if the shoes were switched around and thats a 20 i would win

but thanks for your input

ok, so you did get my messages and you did choose to ignore them, rather than discussing the situation with me like an adult

cause SOMEONE definitely continued to erase my words while you were "under no obligation to answer me"

i quoted my words in this thread exactly as i sent them and the community can judge if i was fair in my wording

and your response is that because i dont outrank you in the military that im not worthy of an answer

?

also
i am relaxed

this is my relaxed face :-)

it looks the same as my contrite face but theyre different

I don't say this much but the book was worlds better than the movie. It's one of those times I try to convince someone to read it first because of how knowing the ending changes your perspective on the whole thing.

For what it's worth, I have been an online forum moderator, and it's not always an easy job.

As much as some people will denounce their right to free speech being abused when a post is moderated, sometimes the best course of action is to lock it down/delete etc. It's difficult and gets tricky to analyse each case individually, so it is better to err on the side of caution.

The best thing to do is to calm down, oftentimes communcating effectively is more important than stating grievances or making points in posts. Not everyone is mature enough to take a look at things objectively, and the best thing to do is to keep open a two-way channel of communication to avoid feeling alienated whenever there is a perception of foul play.

The optimist expects it to change;
The realist adjusts the sails.

No. I'm not in the military anymore either. Have you never heard the phrase you get more flies with honey than with vinegar?

I dont take kindly to demands. I do t like being called a d*ck. If you had bothered to actually respectfully address me, I would have bothered to respectfully reply. Instead, I watched a movie. More fun than this, you see.

Totally agree. Can't wait for the inevitable sequels.
