In the code and tenets we learn that a Jedi focuses on the task at hand, accumulates knowledge and gains wisdom, controls their emotions, their passions, believe in the Force, its timelessness and orderly/harmonious nature.

the Force manipulation and martial art things just aren't what we do here...

Let me ask you this - if everyone was in agreement as to a) what we believe and b) how people should live according to what they believe, why do most Jedi organisations operate one-to-one Master/Apprentice training partnerships? Surely if TOTJO, for instance, wanted everyone to have to learn the same things in the same way, they would abolish Apprenticeships in favour of everyone carrying out a rigid training programme?

Most training orders have a much more extensive training program on the Jedi Philosophy- the apprenticeships are there to develop areas they do not excel in (increasing awareness, a focus on energy work, a focus on the martial aspect, improving health to increase discipline, etc, focus on developing natural skills to further the mission of a Jedi's life, learn to become a better leader, help them through the curriculum if need be, etc).

So, there is an exact definition on what that is at those sites?

Interesting...

I agree with what you said and it's a good thing .I remember you use to be a in the police force.I am sure that you train with best one's.And if so did you see the difference before and after training your body.

Not a definition, but an understanding to the point that many of them could better answer this question. The problem, however, is that many of them do not answer the question of how they are Jedi- but they answer how others outside of them are Jedi.

Generally, and I do find this interesting as well, the same names keep coming up- it is a rarity to see a new name. That makes me wonder if this means people don't believe most of the community adheres to the Jedi Code/Creed/etc to be allowed to use the name (they just aren't willing to come out and say it outright).

Well, i could name plenty of people who I think are Jedi...

Ive already said, I choose the name to, somehow, convey a general message of how I stand...

I understand, that as the exact definition varies from person to person...

In broad terms, we agree on what it is... A good person...

So, if these names cannot name how they are Jedi, how are the rest of us regular joe's supposed to?

Im not Catholic, why? Cause the Catholics expect 100%, undying belief and the following of their codes of conduct...

SO, why would I want to join some Jedi outfit, who tell me what a Jedi is?

I dont need any of these sites/communities to call myself a Jedi... I joined TOTJO because they dont ask me to follow the letter of the law (I beleived in the death penalty still when I joined) and Br. John and I had a lengthy exchange on it, finally, we agreed to just let it lie... (I later changed my position, due to that convo, and further thinking and meditation...)

And, he did not take away my membership because I didnt tow the TOTJO line...

When you draw these lines, these hard definitions, eventually, some people will feel excluded...

Like our GrandMaster Jon... He slowly got shut out, because he is a Sith, and there is not a lot of Sith stuff here (especially now)... This is my feelings... (Due to his actions, and those of us here that call ourselves Jedi)
