Yes, how are we different?

Jedi are guardians of peace and justice. We believe in finding peaceful solutions to problems, gifted as we are we remain negotiators of the utmost ability. We never negotiate out of fear, but never fear to negotiate. We embrace justice, protecting and preserving the fundamental rights of all living creatures. Empathy and compassion are vital to us; it allows us to comprehend the wounds caused by injustice.

When you hold all interpretations as valid, how can you determine injustice?

Justice and injustice is based upon morality and impossible to be universally prescribed across all societies.

I feel that what is at the heart of our code is for us to be true to ourselves. And if we are in accordance with what is meant to be then all will be as it is supposed to be.

As I stated before,

Resticon wrote: "That the systems of truth in the field of morals, ethics, and religious belief that we have studied are not absolute: they vary by culture, by religion, and over time."

To me this means that our belief is fluid, that it changes with time as opposed to other religions which have to remain strictly bound to what is said in their book, whichever book it may be.

As far as I am concerned, injustice is in the eye of the beholder. There are many things that most religions hold to be correct or believe are unjust. Unfortunately even that concept is ever fluid. Who is to say whether abortion is a viable alternative or if it is murder. Pretty much every religion dislikes murder but abortion is still a split vote, right or wrong. You can determine what you believe to be injustice and you can attempt to sway the majority of people to your belief. Unfortunately, it is almost a universal fact that you can not have 100% of 6 billion people who agree with you 100% of the time. The great part is, it doesn't matter. You get to make up your own mind based on what YOU believe to be injustice. And even then your views may change as your culture and religion change and as time progresses. 100 years from now maybe there won't even be any question as to whether abortion is right or wrong but for now it stands to reason that there will be people believe it is and people who believe it is not. It is open to interpretation.

Sorry, i just got done reading a bunch of Nietzsche. I just found them to be applicable to the current convo. But they shoot to crap all that i was supporting earlier. Oh well it was fun to be counter point for a while. I think I've lost my entire track anyway.

I don't believe much of what I have been talking about here, just questioning for the sake of it. I actually have a personal belief system akin to your own resticon.

LOL, well I appreciate the alternate view that you have been presenting. Asking the hard questions is what keeps us in shape mentally.

It has never mattered to me what someone believes in, I just hope that people have a reason behind what they believe. Believing in something for the sake of believing in it, is one of the only things that I still have trouble understanding. I always hope that I will meet someone who feels this way so I can ask them why they do.

I've already ask my apprentices to read and discuss this thread...

Reaching is important...

However, we all will not be reaching for the same goals, so to put requirements on the basic level, "just" Jedi seems, well, overkill...

But, it should be said that to advance, say become a knight, these goals should be strived for...

In the fiction, (which I don't know at all past the movies), I would think that more than just Jedi believed in, and/or worshipped the force...

Jedi had midichlorians (sp?), and thus gave them force abilities, blah, blah....

Because this isn't fiction, we need to adapt a bit....

Anyone can call themselves a Jedi is how we (TOTJO) perceive this...

However to be a Knight, a person must actively seek self improvement...

Revenge... How about justice?

Who determines which is which?

Yes.. By declaring you are Muslim, you are more Muslim than me...

And since I only really know in my heart of hearts, what I believe, its the best comparrison I have...

You might not be as Muslim as some, but you are more than me...

Who is judging the action to call it injustice?

Who says injustice exists?

That's man's word for "life's not fair"...

Its not... it simply "is"...

Heh...

Resticon, UraharaKiskue's real name is Charles...

I only ask that everyone post once a day... I'm having trouble keeping up from my phone!!!

lol...;)

Jediists- Agnostic Jedi, follow the path as their predecessors Jedi Realists under the name Jediism to signify they do not follow a religion.
