I relate to this, but not really in a gender sort of way.

Each morning I wake and see myself in the mirror, I want to be something more than a human. It's something I've felt since age 14. Being made of flesh is so weak, frail, and ephemeral. I want to be constructed of something more durable, I want to be something more than what I am.

To bad no surgeon on earth can help me with this one yet...

You are a unique and beautiful snowflake.

I just wondered what you guy thought about that point of view on literlism in religion what I exsperenced today was a perfect example or how it can be harmful to a sersiaty to take that view point. I agree with homophobia be a sigh of latened homosexuality a lot of the time.

FYI: it's "society" not "sersiaty"

Just my opinion, I think that in reality Bisexuality is much higher in society then is readily admitted.

When i was in college i took a Human Sexuality course, there was a concept tha was taught called the Kinsey Scale. I can not remember the whole idea, it was several years ago. But if memory serves me right... it was something like a scale of 1 to 5. 1 represented fully Heterosexual and 5 represented fully Homosexual. And that while there were purely 1's and 5's out there that they were in a reality quite rare. That most people actually fall on the heterosexual side as a 2 and in the homosexual side as a 4 and that over our life time we fluctuate and some go into the 3 zone.

I am always amused by the ignorant statement that homosexuality is not natural, in that several species of animals regularly have homosexual relationships and even a larger number could be said to be bisexual as they will partner with or attempt to mate with either gender based on if they are in heat or not.

Interestingly there is the concept that God is of both the Masculine, Avinu (our Father while at the same time Feminine, Shechinah, or the essence of God.

Just my thought.. male, female.. Masculinity and Femininity ... Heterosexuality and Homosexuality.. is really seems to be two parts that are synergistic.

I'm writing this in response to SeanChing.

I don't think the uneasy feeling makes one a bigot, as long as you are open to other having the same basic human rights as you. I think it's when one wants all of society to conform to their personal beliefs that it becomes an issue. I also think it's something that becomes easier to be around. I was always uncomfortable when I was younger, but I lacked exposure to people. As I grew, my feelings toward the whole subject changed, and I no longer see PDA's as any different between guy/guy, girl/girl, or guy/girl.

First let me say that I understand that you merely related gender identity order to your situation in order to open the topic to comments, and this is in no way an attack. It is simply that this is a very good opportunity to help publicize a difficult condition and maybe shed light on what people normally are too uncomfortable to ask straight away.

This is actually a common problem that the transgender community has to overcome. While initially it may seem counter intuitive, transgender concerns have nothing to do with sexual orientation. The framework in which we house ourselves is disassociated with from what we find attractive. If any of you were the opposite sex, would you find different things to be attractive? Most likely not, and if you did, then it would be safe to assume that your orientation was based on prevalent social conventions than it was on what you honestly preferred.
In this, the largest hurdle of someone with gender identity disorder is to overcome others perceptions that it is sexually based.

The second big hurdle is getting people to understand the genetic and physical reality of the condition. It isn't just a choice or preference, chemically and neurologically there are differentiation betwixt men and women that those with GID have 'mixed up' to their birth gender. It's a difficult and emotionally crippling thing to experience.

Imagine for a moment, you wake up with the face of a different person. You're voice, eyes, height, weight all different. Everyone you know refers to you as a different person that you remember being yesterday. Everything about your life is planned for someone that isn't you. You can't escape it, every time you look in a mirror you know that this isn't your face, but there is nothing to be done.

This is what someone with GID goes through every day, save that they have no memory of what they used to be, only a dream of what they could be.
