Sorry, I couldn't resist. (Besides, we all know he was Palpatine's other other secret apprentice.)
You owe me a new cup of tea I just spit half mine out against my computer screen.

Are you suggesting that those of us who are only a part of this Temple don't really know what it is to be a Jedi?

I think what is meant is that there is more to the community then this Temple. Not that people here do not know what it is to be a Jedi but it is a suggestion to not limit your perspective or training. Just how I saw it.

That is a very kind reading. Thank you for that.MadHatter wrote:

If you are going to be a Senator of "Jedi" and represent "Jedi" in parliament. Then It would be prudent to know about all facets of "Jedi" and not just one tiny slice in the pie.
Unless you want to watch the first Jedi War on the idiot who claimed to represent all Jedi in the highest places of America....That would be fun

I have just learned here that it is better to give my fellows the benefit of the doubt unless given very good reason not to. As someone that is pretty much only part of this temple I could have gotten upset or taken it wrongly but I believe that most people here are well meaning and decent so I look for the good of what is said rather then assuming insult. Its one of the things the temple has really helped me withAtticus509 wrote:

Even when someone directly insults me, I look inward and try to learn from it. My assumption is that we are all here to learn and what is offered is a perspective to ponder. Sometimes I slip, but it has worked well for me so far!
I think it is because of my faith in the people here.

sometimes I really wonder where people come up with these "Assumptions"
While I think I'm going to steer clear of examining the substantive point, Goken asked you a clarifying question rather than making an assumption. It's one of the three "rules" of Jedi communication I learned out there in the community. And which I am clearly violating because I have assumed that you were referring to Goken's question rather than Mad's restatement.

I debated on answering. As it is a bit off topic

Let us look at the context that lead up to here. When I commented I quoted Silas Mercury statement on having a Jedi Senator or representative in Parliament. We were not, however, talking about what constitutes the making of a Jedi. Thus...My statement was in context of Silas Mercury's statements and created around his presented context. A Senator that represent Jedi in Parliament. Which therefor I suggested the need to become an active member of the Jedi community (Which includes more than just this temple) in order to become a senator in parliament for Jedi. My statement "and really learn what it is to be a Jedi" never implied that being in this temple alone meant you didn't know what it was to be a Jedi. In fact....that has absolutely nothing to do with the context in which I am discussing

Now please understand I am not commenting on this to cause more argument or derailing. However you mentioned
"It's one of the three "rules" of Jedi communication"
Who's rules? Because to me one of the key rules of Communication is the Understanding and Application of Context. Which is often glossed over and a reason why these kinds of misunderstandings and miss-communications happen. Because we Assume outside of context. However....those are just My rules

As for the Asking of Clarification. The Asking of Clarifications was still based on an assumption

Again. I am not attempted to cause further derailing, or to stir the pot more. I did however feel this was a perfect opportunity to mull over the subjects of this supposed "Rules of Jedi Communication" further and present my side of the story and why it is I felt the Assumption made was confusing to me, personally.
Context is key here

Feel free to split this off. Either way. I shall back down and let things move along.
