Thanks mateI dont know maybe its just me, but i have a vision of a jedi order with some importance in the world as we follow the jedi code we are keepers of the peace and justice. when i try to investigate more about our order i only see people making fun of the jedi order. I didnt know about those meetings, i am glad some of us are taking the order seriously.
You'd be surprised how many actually do take the order seriously, especially around here.
If you become a Temple Member, you have access to many more discussions on the forum.
Also, if you wish to have people take the Order seriously, a good way it to start with yourself and your own circle. Start a dialogue outside the Order, explain who we are and what we do.
How can i become a member here? All my life as i said i follow the jedi order, i have conquered my own fears, defeated the darkness in me, i passed the trials to become a jedi knigth at least i feel like i did. The force tells me i have become a true jedi.
I tried to bring people to the order, they dont take me seriously, they laugh....Thats why i dont feel that this is real, the jedi order is real to me but not to the world and that is what i dream for the order. I dont know anyone here.

I would rather see Jediism as opposed to atheism as the official religion anyway. And forget about any religion that even hints at shunning the non believers. There are no infidels in Jediism and that's fine with me.
Plus, the Jedi mythology is way more entertaining than any of the others. Well, Hinduism is a close second.

I might advise you to really think about why you desire the world to take Jedi seriously though. As long as we are good and helpful does it matter if they laugh?

I once had this vision tooI think one needs to be careful though, as we are a religion/way of life first and foremost, not a political movement. Obviously it is important that we, as Jedi, aim to help those around us and try to keep the peace as much as possible, but i don't think most people here would want us to get too involved in the political side of things
.
As for people making fun. Try seeing it from their point of view, if someone walked up to you and said I follow a religion based off of a 1970's Kid's Sci Fi film, you'd probably laugh at them too (I know I would). But I find that once you explain to people that we're not actually anything like the Jedi in the films, that we don't wear robes, or wield lightsabers, and once you start to explain what we actually believe in and the path that we follow, most people think its pretty damn cool
People make fun of everything they have no knowledge of , the nice thing about the Temple is that we can laugh about ourselves too , when religion or ideology gets serious bussiness the growht stagnates and authorities start burying themselves in Dogma , to look at yourself en wanting to improve your service to others , i think, is more important if you want to be of real service than blindly following a Doctrine

I know but when the Christianity begin they where a group, then they become a larger group and now they have a country "Vatican" I know we are a new religion and that is based on a movie, but Jorge Lucas didnt create the jedi order, he just gather some religions and created one single religion the jedi. So the jedi order have ideas from all religions around the world.

It bothers me to watch people making fun of a religion that only wants the world to live in harmony to respect all living forms, to respect cultures and other religions to defend peace and justice just because we came from a movie? Many other ideas like some tecnology came from movies and people use...

That is very hard, it would need a lot of money, some of the members can t go to that temple, that is not the way at least for now, i think the first priority is to became oficial in the world. And to do that the high members of the council should gather and discuss that and find a way to make this dream real.

What bothers me isn't people making fun of Jediism, but people disregarding it's principles regardless of the name. Hate, ignorance, intolerance, injustice. These things bother me more than a lack of respect for the term Jediism. Those are the things that I devote more of my time towards righting. Let them laugh, sometimes people just really need something to laugh at to brighten up their day. I'll take that bullet if it helps them.

Its not just because we come from a movie...
Religion is disrespected, no matter the belief...
That's ok, it no more shakes my belief, than my devoutness shakes the belief of a non-believer (of anything!)...

On walk-about...
Sith ain't Evil...
Jedi ain't Saints....
