I might advise you to really think about why you desire the world to take Jedi seriously though. As long as we are good and helpful does it matter if they laugh?

It bothers me to watch people making fun of a religion that only wants the world to live in harmony to respect all living forms, to respect cultures and other religions to defend peace and justice just because we came from a movie? Many other ideas like some tecnology came from movies and people use...

What bothers me isn't people making fun of Jediism, but people disregarding it's principles regardless of the name. Hate, ignorance, intolerance, injustice. These things bother me more than a lack of respect for the term Jediism. Those are the things that I devote more of my time towards righting. Let them laugh, sometimes people just really need something to laugh at to brighten up their day. I'll take that bullet if it helps them.

Thats very wise my friend. :)

Its not just because we come from a movie...

Religion is disrespected, no matter the belief...

That's ok, it no more shakes my belief, than my devoutness shakes the belief of a non-believer (of anything!)... :)

If people learn to respect others religion and ideas this would be a better world.

Hi, nice you are here.

Remember: You're not the only one with this opinion. I joined the order not to seek for spirituality or an alternative religion, I joined because I live the Jedi way of life much more then I got to know what a Jedi is.

I'm not here to say "Yes, I'm a real Jedi, because I joined the temple." This is not a priority, not even an influence. When I do something good, I do it for the deed, not for me and not for the temple. Not even for showing my face and say "Remember this face. I'm a good man".

I don't talk about Jediism, expect when I'm asked. Because there must be a secret. Secrets are valueable.

If you need a religion, a "brand mark", for peace, you probably did not understand the meaning of peace.

Sorry for the rough language. This is my personal point of view, maybe you can take something from it.

Good luck on your path and may your goals come true. I would welcome it.

I am not saying that we should become a "band mark" but if we are recognized we could have more people joining, people could find shelter in our belives and our philosophy and could seek help from the order. And the jedi path is a spiritual path, the jedi code is about controlling our emotions, seek peace, serenaty, harmony. I dont need to be recognized from my work helping others, i just want to be recognized as beacon, and its not even a recognition to myself but to the order, i want the jedi order to be seen not as a fan club but as a religion or a spiritual organization to help others and seek peace and justice.

Then Jediism is something like, for example, Christianity, where you are born in and teach you the way. Maybe think about: Jediism MUST be found, if you want to learn how to control your emotions, seek peace, harmony etc.? What about choose your religion, if you really live it, not because your parents give you a religion you must live with?

The Order is a recognized non-profit religious organization.

Each of us is responsible for being an ambassador of the Order outside of the community. We can't force others to recognize our validity, but what we can do is show through our good deeds and open dialogue what the Order is about.

And if people still see us as a Star Wars fan club, after all that, well let them. What others think of our community doesn't affect our own faith.

Part of being 'Jedi' is understanding that it coincides well with the path of the individual. We each have unique backgrounds and experiences that flavor our own unique brand of 'Jedi'. To expect others to conform to my idea of Jediism would take away from what I believe to be the best part of it. It is mine, and mine will be different from yours. I would never expect anyone else to recognize my religion, only the positive impact it has on me as a person.

We do not look to evangelize because Jedi are not made. We are not converts. We do not seek to convert others. Some of us may have practiced other religions in the past or continue to practice other religions side-by-side with Jediism today because it works for that individual.

We will be judged by our actions and our ideas. The teachings of Jesus were just that, ideas. He set an example with his actions. Christianity is what we know of it today because it has had over 2,000 years to mature (or devolve?). Who knows what Jediism may be 2,000 years from now? Perhaps the name will be dead and gone, but I truly hope that the ideas and behavior we promote here will live on regardless.

The future of the Jedi Order is just that, the future. I'm more concerned with the Jedi I am today; right now, when I can truly impact the world around me in positive ways.

Please notice that I am only guessing..! ,,When a person asks about something written out, (FAQ/structure), it most likely that it is because they do not see the message as an other person might see it. Feeling that they miss something, so they start to ask. Their source of asking questions can be environmental and/or mental based?''

This minding feels quite logical so far eh? :) So a part of the problem could be in the way how the temple gives their information. And an other part can be in how people absorb that information. With that in mind, how do we know where people find the trouble part? If we cannot, both sides must be inspected!! ;)

In order to be taken seriously, we should have a ''plan of attack''. In order to be serious we should have a purpose. Explaining the temple should be simple, powerful, and instinctively. People must be able to see the temple from their own perspective, and not only from ours. Give it time, the temple might not be ready for static acceptance!

The following information-questions about information came in my head:
  • Are new guests well informed from the beginning? How are they informed, do they ask questions?
  • Is the temple explained in one piece somewhere? Must people dig up multiple pages/ to understand the website?

You'd be surprised how many actually do take the order seriously, especially around here.
