Well I don't do it for that very reason. you want me to pay for sex I want you to pay for insulting me. I actually genuinely feel sorry for people who have no choice but pay, like megamind, and are happy to pay because for them it's actually the better option!

I think that, like many common illegal activities, prostitution should be legalized and regulated. But also experienced having lots of money (and being generous with it) and as a result getting an awful lot of sex. and I mean, different partners, often at the same time, every day of the week. Probably not always different girls but I don't remember that. Sure, at the time it felt great. But there came a time when I realized and cared that people only like me as much as I am useful to them. While this is true of the relations between business people and politicians in general, I find that this behaviour should have no place between friends, family and neighbours. My question was born from sturday's night out: did lots of drugs and alcohol, all between guys, had a good time, was involved in things that, had it been with women, would totally count as sexual assault... Also saw a couple of prostitutes and all of this reminded me of my relationship with my former female "friends" or acquaintances...
And all I can say is that at no point did it ever occur to me that these guys had to be useful to me in some way or that I had to be useful to them as well.

What also perplexes me is that I am a strong believer in meritocracy, yet, I find the notion that the only way people can get something is by being useful in some way rather disgusting and far from enlightened. I chose prostitution due to it being usually whined about by my arch-enemy and for the simple fact that the only difference between prostitute and customer is that one pays and the other gets paid despite both having the same amount of sex.

Ren, I think your approach is correct but your conclusions are in error.

First of all, sex is perfectly normal and natural. There is nothing disgusting about it. Many people enjoy it and do it frequently.

Secondly, there are people who enjoy sex so much that they can actually make a living at it.

The problem I see is when individuals and governments step in the middle. This is where you're getting the idea of oppression and supply/demand, etc. If we decriminalized prostitution it would become a normal thing and there wouldn't be such a demand for it and there wouldn't be a need for underground smuggling and all the other problems we have right now.

Another problem I see is obesity. When I travelled to other countries without obesity epidemics, I found that 90% of all the women I saw were surprisingly attractive and open minded towards sex, relationships, etc. In the US the amount of attractive women is very low. I mean they would be attractive if they lost 500lbs or so. But anyway they're not. So that just leaves a handful of women (say 5%) that are attractive while 95% are not.

As far as the megamind comment about how you don't have drama with prostitutes but you do with girlfriends: I've found this to be the case in the west too. Western women can be terrible companions. I think you should know that there are other cultures out there and they're not all western.

I'm sure we can argue the finer points of "slightly overweight" and how this is only skin deep and it's really the person on the inside that matters... but the reality is that most men aren't attracted to overweight women.

What's wrong with obese women? I've seen quite a few beautiful overweight women. I've also seen some butt ugly skinny women. But then again i focus more on face, eyes, and hair color.

I'm sorry you find it insulting that I've pointed out that the statistics you use to support your arguments are factually inaccurate. And yes, the sarcasm is unnecessary, but for me personally unsubstantiated opinions presented as statistical facts isn't well recieved at all.

Define exploitation ren? I tend to think its more accurate to define it as opportunity (for men). Sex is not restricted to prostitution, therefore it is not exploitation.... is it!? It is one avenue of many means for the male to satisfy that concept of libido. Due to the increased risk's and perhaps special skills, as a vocation it seems pretty normal it requires monetary compensation (payment). What if there were no prostitutes, how would your viewpoint change then!?
