What if a group of people (say, the shareholders of a corporation) kept tight control over the food supply chain and started charging whatever they want?
They would if they could (it's market dynamics for you), but there are laws to prevent this from occurring, with direct retail price control, anti-trust laws, cartel laws...

Does that not undermine the very point youre trying to make about it being acceptable to attain the commodity of sex in any manner that is legal?

Money can be traded for sex, sure it isn't fair that a decent looking man has to pay for it, yet almost any woman can post one message on their facebook wall and have 20 guys at their doorstep in 5 minutes. For whatever reason that is how evolution dealt the cards. That's how things are, and we as men just have to deal with it. Women's bodies belong to them, they are under no obligation to have sex with anyone. There are a lot of bigger issues to worry about in our world, if you can't afford to buy sex you can go to youporn or redtube easy enough and rub one out on the cheap.
