When you're repeatedly told, by multiple people, that you sound like a condescending jerk a lot of the time then you may want to examine the way you say things.

Big pharma companies are just dirty price gougers...
Supplier has doubled the price of my medication, I have none left so I have to either fork over the money, or wait and try and find somewhere cheaper but know that not taking the pills will mess me up for a while... Or even both, if I can't find a cheaper supplier.

No I did not call in last minute for kicks. Yes, I feel bad that there's only one person there and he's been by himself all afternoon. No I am not the other person! You have someone coming in at 5, call her in early. Or do I need to bring in a dictionary and educate you on the words "emergency" and "ER".... or how about the phrase "possibly broken or dislocated hip".... yes it sucks for the one worker there and I'm sorry, but there's not a d##n thing I can do about it. Come in still? Ummm.... what part of ER didn't you understand?!
