Conflict is the heartbeat of the Dark aspect. As one gets more skilled, they learn non-resistence and efficiency and it becomes a continuous dance of life for us. Perhaps youll take some lumps at first, or fall completely, and well, that to us, is as it should be.

Suffice to say we need(want is probably more truthful) the fight, we live for it, like sharks(not all sharks I know) when we stop swimming, we die....Hopefully not literally, haha.

Still, its certainly not for all. In the midst of our conflicts, and our path, what others would judge as pointless, silly, counter productive, etc..Well,were actually enjoying immensely and getting much benefit out of our methods.

Constant destruction and creation...I love it. Its given every aspec of my life fufillment.

Such is the power of the perspective of those who choose the path and dont.

Where some can see no value, some cant help but..

Personally, we like ot see if you can stand at all. If, at the first onset of challenge you give completely, then chances are your not cut out to learn more.

Fact is, you dont learn the art of non-resistence without learning resistence.

Well, true enough...

I turned down my chance to own a school (MooDukKwon TaeKwonDo, similar to TangSooDo)... My GM still wants me to take over and carry on his ways, but, my life has other things going...

"Resitence is futile" (sorry, made me laugh)

Ive Pmed various Sith here at TOTJO, none have really wanted to discuss it... Maybe I need a Sith Apprentice whose brain I could pick... Then, become his student... Maybe... hmmmm Just for the other p.o.v....

I would say you were exposed to poor wrestling...

Well, maybe...

The Gardners are well known in Illinois, producing high school stars... And they were my coaches... Regardless, Im pretty old now...

All I really learned there was I can take a beating, lolol...

.The F.A. wasnt my first foray into the Dark aspect.

Fair enough, I have not been to the FA in quite a while... I did run by there a few weeks ago after someone told me about a thread, but, I forget what it was about...

Lumps are indeed a part of life...

To me, the "taking lumps", then learning skill and efficiency is in all things...

I guess, I dont see how Sith and Jedi differ...

Khaos, do you revel in destruction? or the cycle?

Personally, I mean, I realize you cant speak for all...

On walk-about...

Sith ain't Evil...
Jedi ain't Saints....

Well, as I understood the point, if I understood it, was the initial resistence was a feint. It was to distract me to fight with resistence, and then get my ass pinned.....and it worked....many,many, times.

I guess, I dont see how Sith and Jedi differ...

I would say its fairly unimportant if you see where they differ.

We who choose the path find value in it, and in the difference we see in it. Which is why we choose on over the other.

Boxes and illusions? Perhaps, but like the White Stripes, working within limits can in fact be highly creative and benficial as an undertaking.

I dont worry about the limits I work within, especially when I havent found them yet. I have not fully explored the Dark path, and will probably not live long enough to. It continues to have great meaning and value to me,(with all its words, definitions, descriptions, etc) perhaps one day it will not....Lol, but ill worry about crossing that bridge when and if I get to it.

Perhaps a simple difference is that the journey never eclipses the destination for us. Not to say we dont enjoy the journey, we simply never forget there was a reason we started it, or them, in the first place. I wouldnt say at expense of the moment, but there is a clear reason why the ends justify the means. We have clear ends in mind.

In our path, the results are important, perhaps moreso then how you got them...Im ambivilent admittedly on this though. I would say its more depending on what your pursuing. In some things, this can become an excuse rather than a valid method. the results dont become less important in those circumstances, but there is a reason for doing some things, such as apprenticeship training.

I would say I respect the cycle, and revel in whichever aspect of it I am engaged in. If thats destruction, at that moment, you can bet im getting off on it.

A good example on what I mean about working within limits is something Miles(a Sith lord at Oots) said today..

Erebus wrote:
Ultimately the Dark Side can not be defined, one either senses it or not.

Miles wrote:
Ultimately this is horse shit. Only those who are not willing or perhaps able to dig deep enough to find truth spout out this tired line thinking it somehow answers the question. You are not a special snowflake, chosen or unchosen by some arbitrary tallent, trait or skill. It is available to all, when they are ready to see. It can indeed be defined, and should be. Working the definition and correcting the errors in it is at the very heart of the Sith Faith. You're just taking th easy way out.

Definitions exist so that we may communicate clearly with one another. There are those who omit definitions for strategic reasons, attempting to accomplish some other goal. Xenebrus is particularly fond of this strategy, for example. But in this question, the definition is sought for clarity, to understand what it is you think you are pursuing. If you do not have it clear for others to understand what you are referring to when you use the term Dark Side, then you are not seeking to communicate with others. If the definition is not clear to yourself, then you are not allowing for a foundation to be built upon, and growth is limited.

I don't see that as dark.

I don't see why you wouldn't, In terms of the Force, the Dark Side is selfish and used for personal gain, following your passion and gaining power (It's Sith Code 101), while the Light Side is more selfless and used to help others.

Being selfish and doing things for personal gain doesn't make you EVIL, which is what I can only assume you associate with being "dark".

Dark is such a... loosey goosey term sometimes.

I mean, there's so much of it, it can mean a lot of things.

The problem is people aren't as open minded, and they simply think it means evil or wrong. I for one prefer the Dark Side.

Only if you arent working on the definition.

People, prefer loosey goosey terms most times these days.

Dark isnt the only term. Jedi is another one....and on, and on..People hardly know what anybody is talking about because anything can mean anything.

Most dont like definitions because if they were held to them they couldnt pretend they know what there talking about then, and others wouldnt have to tolerate such nonsense as they do, or see it encouraged by other who hide there own lack of substance by enabling it in others.

Yes, exactly Khaos! You've hit the nail on the head, like I expect you to every time.

Only if you aren't working on the definition. And, anything can mean anything. SO, in effect, no matter what I call myself, if I say I am a Jedi, and I kill a million people out of spite... but I define jedi as doing so. And, you call yourself a Sith, and you save people's lives every day (which in a way... never mind. ;) ).. Does the term matter? No. Only the actions that follow it.

Actions are easy.

People can just see the results.

That's why: "Oh! You're a Jedi? SHOW ME."

But, a Jedi cannot show what a "jedi" is, only what HE/SHE is.

Ideals DO NOT EXIST. I've been saying that for months now... "Jedi" isn't real. YOU are real. I AM real. "I want", David Edge. It's all there. He's not dark, he's David. I'm not light, I'm Connor.

But, if you put us on a stage and said: "who's the Sith?" They aren't gonna pick me. Wanna know why? Because YOU all think Sith means something, and David fits that description closer than I do... that's pretty much all there is to it.

So, I don't like definitions because I think they are "arbitrary". I prefer to make myself the best "me" I can be, and leave the things I cannot understand to those who wish to masturbate over them.

Definitions serve to categorize things, its how we operate as humans. Definitions which are broad or undefined will always run into this problem. The problem is not that they exist, but when people use them inappropriately or act in ways which play to the ignorance about what they actually mean.
