Either way, hopefully in the future a thread like this will stay more on topic, rather than have a bunch of people, who aren't even Dark Siders, argue with each other...

And I just mean in your experience, well, you and William...

In my experience, yes, they have. Like I said though, expect an arguement on that. However ive been on this path fir a long time learning and teaching, and as ive said the variations and revelations have been exceedingly minor.

Everyone likes to feel different and special though. In fact we exploit it in teaching.

Ummm...

You realize this is a Jedi site, right?

We are not known for being on the dark side...:)

And the topic was ask a Darksider....

And I think it is on topic....

SO, I guess your post confuses me...

And, while I would ask what you mean, it would derail the thread, right?

;)

Exploit how? To encourage, or discourage?

Well, I think the point that Jestor is getting at, though, is that we can continue to define and change throughout our whole life.

So.....what? Again, why cant you use what you have so far? And if you don't....what are you teaching....lol its just not that hard to understand. So I don't have to repeat myself read what I wrote about martial arts.

Jedi is a life long path of self-discovery, not a job to acquire. At least, here anyway at TOTJO. And, people do not come here with the misconception that they are training to be a militant/mystic force. And, if they do, they leave when they realize it is a false assumption to make.

From what I've seen, there are guidelines, and each Training master has something different to offer.

At places like FA and IJRS, clearly define what we want YOU to be once you've finished our program. And, then, it's done... you either agree, disagree, do it, or leave. It's not like it means anything. Just ways. All pathways to walk or not to walk.

*sigh* No wonder it doesn't mean anything to you. As with most things you get what you put in, and I see no evidence to the fact that you have.

Easier to say something doesn't have meaning when you've given none to it.

Palpatine -"This is what you offer me? The tenets of some arcane cult? "

Plagueis -"The test of its value is whether you can live by it Palpatine. "

But really I don't expect you to understand. Nor anyone here. The need to be you, and your confusion with what it is to be an individual, is not something I can or need to fix, I'm just answering the questions.

haha! Fantastic. :)

I can certainly use what I have so far... but what I have so far is nothing. You have quoted exactly what the Jedi path is IN YOUR POST.

"Palpatine -"This is what you offer me? The tenets of some arcane cult? "

Plagueis -"The test of its value is whether you can live by it Palpatine. "'

It's brilliant because it's saying exactly what you're arguing against... Jedi means NOTHING. I've been saying that for months now. And, that's what Palpatine is saying. That some kind of knowledge is worth "anything", but it's not. Jedi has no value to me. Sith has no value to me. 20 years of school has meant nothing to me.

Plagueis then (my favorite Sith, by the way) brings it around town by saying: "Yes, it means nothing. But, you can use nothing to make something. Even if that something is still nothing." Value... it's so limited. It's so encapsulated. We apply value to... COMPARE to other things. What is comparison? How can something so petty even matter? But, if we live by these tenets. If we follow the teachings, that doesn't mean we are the teachings at all.

They are an illusion to say the very least. But, they are a necessary one. Sometimes one needs hope to continue (which is also an illusion, but that's another story). What's so mind boggling to me, is that when I DO something, it is not an illusion for me, but it IS an illusion for somebody else. *head falls off*

The universe is infinitely complex and infinitely simple at the very same time.

From what I've read over the years, you've chosen to embrace the complexity and the simplicity in your own way. You create and destroy your own universes. This is merely an observation. And, I think it's fantastic.

I don't have the stomach or the creative genius for that.

Really, I'm not worth much, and most certainly not worth your time. I'm glad, though, that you responded to me, like I'm some sort of identity existing outside of your bubble of suffering and imperfection that is a ladder to some kind of paragon existence created by the tenets you, yourself created. In reality, none of these fake and illusionary parameters we call "goals" exist. You cannot achieve anything. We've invented all of these achievements. It's like a dog throwing his own ball and saying fetch, then going to get it himself and saying it means anything. Because it doesn't. The dog throws the ball. The dog runs to the ball. He picks up the ball. Brings it back to the starting place, and the whole thing goes over again.

How has this increased anything?

What does the ball mean?

To me, it seems like the dog is running in circles! hahaha. Now, sure, his legs may get stronger with each throw. He may grow up to be huge if he keeps doing that. He may become strong, and extremely adept at running in circles.

But, he still dies.

Just like the dog who chooses to contemplate this beautiful existence.

You choose the former. I'm more interesting in another way. I love your way! I could never do it, because it seems futile and not worth my time. But, in the same way, you view mine as futile and not worth your time. (I'm not exactly the latter dog, to clarify. And, you're certainly not a dog... just a metaphor).

This existence is very, very limitless and limited. The world works because of workable paradoxes. We can do so much, and without boundaries. We are still bound by life's gates. And, when it's over, it's like a dry erase board.. no matter what Michelangelo you put on it, it can still be erased just as easily as a squiggly line can be.

Not better. Not worse. Just different. I respect those differences, and I appreciate that you actually take the time to come here and enlighten us as to your path.

I don't really understand what you mean. But, I expect that it might mean that I've made everything mean nothing.

Eh. It's quite, quite possible.
