Hello William...

I know you are not THE word in Sith lore, but let me ask this...

I was talking with someone recently, and we discussed the manner in which the majority of Sith seem to interact...

Does being Sith mean a removal of manners and initial respect when dealing with others?

I said this wrong, no offence, I have met many who are the most polite people I know, William, you are among this group... Jon was/is another...

My mother-in-law, and my sister are b*tches... Seriously.. lol...

I love them for who they are, they both are fabulous women in their own right, but, they have a flaw that grates my nerves... (I realize I have my flaws as well, I am looking to understand this p.o.v.... We can discuss my flaws in another thread, lol)

They consider truth to be, well, I guess blunt...

That there is no need for delicacy, or manners, or simple etiquette...

And, it seems, that when accused of being rude, they say, "why so offended? Im just telling the truth."...

I agree that a thick skin is somewhat required, especially when dealing with others... People dont often mean to offend, it just happens....

We need to be thick skinned, but why do some people, and I am asking speciffically about Sith, not see the need for "eloquence"? I rarely go to Sith sites, I find their rudeness, well, rude, lol...

Wouldnt a person think that rudeness puts others on initial defensive? And prevents any positive movement in a conversation?

Are they this blunt to their children?

"Suck it up. There is plenty of pain in life" when dealing with a hurt child?

"Get over it, we all die." at a funeral?

I am betting they wouldnt say those things, but yet these types of sentiments are ok to strangers on the internet... Weird...

I guess they find it easier to give into the animalistic snapping at each other, than to try to restrain themselves?

Which would be a real test of a persons merit, in my opinion...

Just interested in your thoughts, and those of Khaos, and any other Sith that would like to speak...

On walk-about...

Sith ain't Evil...
Jedi ain't Saints....

The path of the Sith with its 'Rule of Two' aptly portrays the typical archetype of a follower of occultism, in that he is always alone.

Except that the rule of two wasn't always prevailent in the fiction. Lol, and obviously not in real life.

I have always looked at it more as a fraternal order. Similair to the masons, or some such.

Not near as popular or notorious, but similair. As we have our secrets, symbols, and words as well.

Fraternal Order

Lol, depends on who your trying to attract. Arguably, for every five that join, only two stay. However were selective and the weeding out process begins immediately.

Sure it can put you on the defensive. We want to know if you'll push back, whether they will focus, or fold.

Also of note, we very much see the need for eloquence. Perhaps you've not stuck around a site long enough to see it.

You have to eat the bitter to get to the sweet.

Actually, those are sour, not bitter.

It was a saying I learned in Martial Arts actually.

my sensei would say things like: you have to learn to crawl before you fly(when someone asked about learning jumping&spinning techniques)

practice until it's automatic(when someone asked about why we have to do certain drills repeatedly)

reach out your arms...that is your territory, if you let anyone inside your territory and get hurt because you didn't strike first it's your fault (when someone asked about being pushed at school)

of course that sensei was an ex-marine, and former kickboxer...

Hmmm...;)

In my martial art, we dont push you back, we pull you toward us, and use your enertia against you...

You come running at me to attack, and I grab you, little sidestep, and throw you down...;)

Seems much more efficient... lol...

When I wrestled in high school, it was force against force... Not very efficient...:)

I figured it was something like that, sort of a test... But, I do belong to FA, and I went there kinda regulary, early in my days in the on-line communities...

Ive had my in-fighting... Im married and divorced after all...:woohoo:

Just seems counter productive, but, as I said before, different beats of a drum...:)

Lol, and I own and opertate an aiki school. Its my core martial art(though not only)and the only one I have official credentials to teach is Aikido. Im well aware of the "when pushed, pull, and when pulled, push" effect. However, this is not the only thing that needs to be learned, and certainly not the first thing.

Personally, we like ot see if you can stand at all. If, at the first onset of challenge you give completely, then chances are your not cut out to learn more.

Fact is, you dont learn the art of non-resistence without learning resistence.

I need to know there not quitters. Because quitters get bowled over regardless.

Too much give is just as bad as not enough.

Also, we dont come running at you, im personally of the mind, inside and outside of the dojo that you are no learning efficiency if you require that much stimulus.

Also, as an aside, theres a fair amount of striking in my school, and that requires a fair amount of resistence to be effective.

When I wrestled in high school, it was force against force... Not very efficient...:)

I would say you were exposed to poor wrestling...

I figured it was something like that, sort of a test... But, I do belong to FA, and I went there kinda regulary, early in my days in the on-line communities...

Ok....The F.A. wasnt my first foray into the Dark aspect. Though I did run it for a time, that was after I had already been well on the path. Also, the Dark aspect of the F.A. has come a long way.

Just seems counter productive,

Depends on what your trying to produce I would say.

Forging a sword requires fire and ice.

Many cannot handle the initial burn, and thats fine.

Just means it wasnt the path for you.
