Really enjoy reading some of these answers. My reason is somewhat mundane compared to others. Years ago when I was online, I needed to create an online username for some website, can't remember now lol. No matter how hard I tried I couldn't come up with anything. I didn't want to use my real name at the time due it to my surname my being beings after my mother remarried, and I hated it. So all I could think of was Katana, since i liked the ring to it, and if course the sword. I decided I needed to put a first name to it, to be unique and merged se from sephiroth (clue to the time of this event) and gon from dragon since I have a love for the mythical creatures. Have now used it ever since. It has no meaning for me other than kit is what i use as a username for the internet.

To most i am Pete, or to some I am pony-tail Pete, and one litle boy I know even calls me computer Peter :-P. So call me what you will.

At some point, I decided that I was not Riddle, Riddle Nox, Guildersa Kilders, Kildreth, Kyan Nib-Mana, whatever other names I went by.

I was Connor. People who know me in the non-cyber world know me as Connor.. That's who I am.

I also turned 18, and I realized I could be an adult. :P Now, I'm 20 almost 21 and I'm glad and accepting of my current identity. My minor days were spent in secrecy to oblige the wish that my parents would have that I not be in danger from petty internet pedophiles or such.

Though I wouldn't say my name (but rather my actions) defines who I am, this is why I chose to use my real name as my username. I wanted to be addressed as I would have people offline address me.

Also, when I created my account, I wanted to show that I was taking this seriously (I've sometimes felt that people in life treat me differently because of my age; this doesn't happen here much at all, thankfully :) ), so I didn't want a nickname or anything (I thought that perhaps a nickname would make it seem as though I wasn't sincere in my studies here)...I just wanted to be accepted at the Temple.

My given name is tame. My mother chose it, not me. I never felt much attachment to it, and in fact have used different permutations of it my whole life.

So I got to pick one I liked. That sounded badass. That I thought fitting. And I seized that opportunity.

suliskveteba was the name my mother chose outside of my birth name, I have a complicated family... but I chose it out of respect and love for her

I don't think my statement contradicts this. If I am Connor, I am packaging all of my elements by the name people associate me. So, if I said I was MeowMix, then I am escaping from my identity and my actions in a way, am I not?

Replied by on topic Username and why we use them ?
My username came to me after much thinking. I use Raikoutenshi (Meaning Lightning Angel) or Raikouakuma (Meaning Lightning Devil, or Demon) to express my nature. I have been told that my personality it like lighning. Both beautiful and dangerous. When used properly it can provide energy for the world around, though when mistreated it can cause a natural chaos unlike much else. I react with speed and intensity, and hardly ever return to the same line of thinking twice as I am ever changing in accordance to the world around me. So in short I get my username from the personality of lightning and the duality of it. And I feel there is no need to hide behind usernames as I give my legal name freely. It, however, is quite plain, being Gregory Robert Smith. I prefer a name online that others can see I chose for a specific purpose and if they are curious enough to ask I will share with them why I choose such a name.

My Username is pretty straight forward, it's the same as my legal name. I picked it when I was about 9 years old because my favorite video game at the time was a flight simulation and the top rank was "Ace", and I wanted to be "the best". Venom, my last name, had two things I liked about it & associated with it: My favorite superhero villain at the time was Venom (from spiderman), and I used to have a strong interest in being a scientist specialising in research for cures to illnesses, poisons, and venoms. I did end up going into a field of science...just not that one. I'm studying to be an electronics engineer, specialising in renewable resources. I'm presently in my second(ish) year of college in that field. Either way, I liked the name and it kind of stuck.

I ended up having my name legally changed a good while back, in 2007. While admittedly it wasn't the most brilliant decision on my part (for employment reasons, and the general reaction of "You've got to be making this up!" I get from people), I'm none-the-less happy with it.
