Elaelila, gamer name of choice, unique, sounds pretty when pronounced properly. Ee- lay - lee - la. The first e is really hard like the alphabet sound and la is really short.

Asopo - a name of a river god(ddess) also supposedly a Muse. <3 the idea of Muses.

Frisson - a shuddering of emotion, excitement.

Some names have meaning for me, others do not. I just choose what I like, usually going for some version of unique.

You're Frission? Interesting.

I often use William Kaede, but I was reading through works by the Sith Lords Miles and Draconis, who had a bit to say on the subject of names. Miles uses his own name, because he doesn't believe in hiding behind, or empowering an alias. By putting his own name forward, he believes it removes barriers between himself and his learnings.

Draconis also said his own use of a Darth name is symbolic, that he surpassed "Rick" on a spiritual, emotional and mental level and became "Draconis", in the same way the a Sith takes a Sith name, in the style of Bane in particular.

I'm going to take a similar approach in my studies, having changed my username to Michael at both the Force Academy and the Order of the Sith Lords. In my signatures, I will remind people that I am once and always William Kaede, and eventually, when the time is right, shall take a Sith name for use.

But in the end, what is a name? It's a symbol, nothing more, and means to use what we decide for it to mean to us.

It reminds me of labels. No matter what name I choose to associate myself with, in the end, I am still me. I am not sure what it says of me that I can pick a name and go for it and even respond to it. For example, in the gaming world I use Elaelila so every knows it is me. Who else is going to use such a creative name that makes no sense? It works and people go omg you are that cleric?!!?!? Are you playing a cleric? I must have you! But people call me "Ellie" for short in vent and such and now I look up when people use Ellie. Also at Dunkin Donuts, we have to have name tags, well my manager at the time creates names for you when you don't have yours, so one day I became Sparkle. All the customers knew me as Sparkle and when they saw me around town they would go "Hey Sparkle!"

I was doing a shadow assignment from FA, on Know Thyself. Due to it, I've learned that so many people perceive me in so many different ways. My mother sees a new side of me and tells me I am jaded, a girl I worked with said to me recently "you are so polite, it's so cute." All these different views of me, they are all me, every bit of them. I am polite, but there is a whole other side of me that is not so polite. I can be the life of the party but I am also an introvert. I am fun loving and serious. I am chameleon who can change skin and I have a little bit of everything. What doesn't change is my experiences which has developed a certain philosophy.

lol I am Frisson =o how could you not know? J/k. David thought I was male, I had a giggle fit over that.

In the end names to me are just means to give rise to a certain association. Frisson and Asopo for blog worthy purposes. My blog name on tumblr is Frisson and my username is Asopo. The same goes for wordpress. I may choose a name for a certain meaning like when I was younger, Kara was a twixt of the wore care which I used within a certain community along time ago. Though nowadays the name I choose has a value of uniqueness within it. If you type Elaelila in, you'll find stuff about my gaming and paganism. You type Frisson, you'll find the definition and my blogs as well as links to me on FA I am sure. If you type in Asopo you find greek shit and the stuff associate with that username, but it all inter-connects.

My real name is Melissa. It means the bee. Does that have any meaning to me? No. I'd lose Asopo, Frisson, and Elaelila in heartbeat if necessary. I do not even mind giving up my last name when I get married. Though I do have a certain attachments to Elaelila because it has been my online alias for several years but so was angelusk, kara, and silvra. It doesn't make me any less or any more.

To be honest I never gave it much thought... heh. I'll pull that one out on him at some point. He's my master back at the Force Academy.

It is just another label, but like labels, they do hold a small amount of power if we let them. Try my FA Holocron for a bit of a discussion on it from Khaos as well as David.

My Username comes from two different reasons, really. The first reason is the literal definition of "revanchist", which is "of or pertaining to revanchists or revanchism". Not exactly the best definition, but as I was coming up with my Username, I did some research on revanchism. It turns out most revanchists were not people sore about losing wars, but were people who strongly sought to get back the land that they lost through different means. I feel as though my journey here consists of gaining my lost land. I want to gain a foothold on religion again and become a more active individual. Secondly, I am a fan of Knights of the Old Republic and the lore that surrounds it. The Revanchists were those who defended the Republic in its greatest time of need.

Might I say, this thread is very interesting to read through. It's great to see how all of you got your usernames.

My username, honestly, was created by a name generator online. I didn't look it up to see what it meant until just now when I read this thread. I couldn't find Talms as a name, but Reann is actually a "girl" name. I, for one, don't really believe in the gender separation of most names. I choose to keep it to display this, that a boy can have a "girl's" name. I also like the way is tastes when I say it. And I have just realized that it combines the first letters of my first and middle names together.

When I was 5 I started calling myself Brenna internally. When I think about myself it is as Brenna. I never shared it with anyone or asked people to call me by it. I have no idea where it came from or what it meant but it resonated me with so strongly that when I was 18 I started the process of changing my name legally, but the idea of me rejecting the name I was given upset my mother deeply so I let it go.

It might sound weird, it may not be the name I was given, but Brenna is my name. Its is the name of the authentic me and I have always known it.

I chose mine because of two reasons:
1) In Star Wars lore, solari is the most powerful crystal you can get.
2) It represents light, purity and basically everything evil so it was a natural choice, to represent myself as a person trying to lose the selfishness, cowardice, ignorance, duplicity and wrath inside me (Divergent anybody?).

Hmmm I thought for sure I posted in here ages ago...but after searching through found that I did not...so here it is:
RyuJin- Ryu= dragon (can also be used to mean "the way of") Jin= person( can also mean man, king, god)

Ryujin is the japanese dragon god of the sea, it was believed that he protected japan from invaders by creating narutos (whirlpools), and tsunamis...

Now why did I choose it?...well really it chose me...I was born in the year of the dragon, I served in the navy and have a love of all things aquatic..dragons are often used to symbolise wisdom....and I've always had an affinity for dragons...

I've used Kita as a nick name as long as I have been surfing on the internet. I wanted a true name, not just a title-like pen name. Because I was young, I needed a name suitably different than my real life name.

So I chose Kita Hiroshimi, which are Japanese names that are supposed to respectively translate to "north" and "star." The north star is one of the few celestial bodies I can reliably find in the sky. It serves as a guide to travelers, including runaway slaves fleeing north. Freedom, stars/the sky, direction/travel- I liked the things associated with the north star.

Kita is now a habit: a short, easy to spell name that I have a history with.
