No. Thank goodness no. I've failed to save a person with a heart attack, that's bad enough on my conscience, although I did everything I could at that time.

I understand that feeling, but having been through that outcome way more times than I could count, I can tell you from experience that it's not an accurate perspective. Someone's heart stops, that person is unfortunately dead. Sometimes we can turn that around with CPR and medications. But when what we can do isn't sufficient, we should consider forgiving ourselves for not being omnipotent gods. :)

Blessings for what you did do for that unfortunate person. I'm sorry the end result couldn't have been better.

I've killed plenty of bugs, but no humans. I hurt a few people while doing martial arts and that's not something I'm proud of, I can't imagine killing a person. Saved one life once using the heimlich maneuver, though, but I was just doing what anybody else would do in that situation.

I was in the Army, but no, I have not. However, I pulled Detainee Operations and had a shotgun trained on my detainees at least two days a week, the other 5 I was inside the facility taking care of them- escorting them to the shower, to the medic, the bathroom, giving them food, and sometimes even reassuring them that the mortar rounds were not going to hurt them.
I could have shot them, had any of them stepped out of line and placed a fellow soldier or another detainee in danger. I never had to though.

I recognize, however, that I might have really been traumatized if I had to take that shot. Those detainees were people I "knew" for a short time. Given a shotgun's spray pattern, I'd have been horrified if I hit one of the ones that didn't act up, some (not all, and I won't even go as far as to say a third of them) of those detainees were actually good guys scoped up because they were at the wrong place at the wrong time- or worse hit another guard.

Your question is very inconsiderate to those that have had to kill another person. Everyone copes with the issue in one way or another. To ask this question is to dredge up things they might have tried to bury. The question itself can spark the horrific scene all over again.

Let's just hope you never have to go through it yourself, that way you never have to know how to cope with the problem.

I have been carrying firearms since 1985, both in the line of duty and as a civilian, I have lived and worked in hostile countries and I have used my weapon in accordance with R.o.E. if you must know.

Japan's laws are extremely strict, as in, you can't have them. How do you have one?

Well we can all see you do not read ... If you cared to read my introduction you would see I am not Japanese by birth, I am Australian. I moved to Japan in 2003. And you like many believe in lies about Japan, Japanese are allowed to own firearm, and as I am now a Japanese citizen, we can own pump action shotguns, double barrelled shotguns and hunting rifles with scopes, we are not allowed assault rifles or hand guns, there is currently just under 1 million firearms in the hands of Japanese citizen. Please do not post comments on something you know nothing about.
