Religious Studies

In my free time I like to research other religions an their history. My findings were more than I expected.

In a number of different religions science is stunted or ignored altogether. This is no secret but I would have thought that people had more reason than ignorance. Even after years of proof people still ignore fact. In a few religions \"Copernicanism\" (as they call it) was seen as sacrilegious and would be punished by Death, House arrest, or even excommunication.

Copernicus as you may or may not know was the first to challenge the religious dogma that the earth was not the center of the universe.

Like then even if some thing is proven to be a fact! after a long time of research and tests, it takes EVEN LONGER for other religions to accept any fact that would disprove their faith. Some have even gone to extremes in order to defend their faith. Some religions have a COMPLETE disregard for scientific rules and have \"Modified\" science to prove their views true.

My point is that after sampling a number of different religions this is the only one that has little or no disagreements with science...or other religions for that matter. I mean its in our code!

\"There is no ignorance,there is knowledge\"

As Jedi we try to understand and respect the world around us. I understand why other religions try to keep a wedge between them and science and I would never disrespect them. That's why I didn't specify witch religions did what. I understand and respect other religious views but I cant agree with them. In part that's why I joined Jediism. Its like the Jeet Kune Do of religion. Jediism takes the best of all other religions and applies it to the individual.

I can only agree, what you said is true. No doubt about that. I like particularly your point out the facts as they are without nailing any particular religion down. Nice move. The only thing I would like to add is that this tendency of bending or ignoring truth is not essentially a religious phenomenon but very much a human one. You will find it in science just as much as in religion, take global warming for example. Everyone seems to be coming up with different points using the same facts and yet things are unmistakably changing. Where there are interests there are always strategies, and where there are strategies there are always people. Unfortunately Jediism is also not free of this, even if its teachings say otherwise.

Your very right. Even Jediism isn't completely free from ignorance but our goal is like that of Buddhism.

Life is full of suffering. Only through knowledge can we ease that suffering.

Conections

Some strange changes have been taking place within me. As I look to understand the Force better I end up feeling the Force better. As I've said before we Jedi have the never ending search for knowledge. It's while I've searched that the Force has been working through me.

Obi Wan \"Remember a Jedi can feel the Force flowing through him\"

Luke \"You mean it controls your actions\"

Obi Wan \"Partially, but it also obeys your commands\"

When I first heard that I thought that it was a another part of the Star Wars movies that was made for the move and had no truth to it. However now I know that thats not the case. Through my studies I've found that understanding things has become easier. For example out of nowhere a thought came to my mind while I was just walking past a row of trees.

\"I am connected to them and they are connected to me. Their existence gives me life. My existence and attention gives them purpose. With out each other one could not survive and the other would not existence. Without some one around to acknowledge its existence it would technically not exist.\"

This kind of thinking is not mine...at least not all of it. I could have never come up with that on my own but some how I did. So I feel that the Force is working through me but only by reflex. Now that I can acknowledge the connections of the Force I can begin to attempt to listen to it more and create a stronger connection.

Doubt

Every now and then I meet people that are looking to convert me or others. I noticed that at first people will act nice and friendly but if you show even the smallest sign of doubt the flip their objectives from trying to convert to trying to prove you wrong. Not only that but they dont listen like they'd like you to listen, all they do is wait for their turn to talk. I've never had a comfortable conversation with some on that was trying to convert me.
So its because of this that i feel conversion is wrong.

So from here on out I refuse to instill doubt about other people religion.

In my opinion its really not necessary and its seems like a negative trait that people have.

my basic view of that is: i'll respect their views as long as they respect mine, i won't push my beliefs on them in exchange i ask that they don't push theirs on me....it works pretty good....other then jehovah's witnesses....they always seem to be sooooo pushy, and yet i've gone to their church and they don't have a great view of converts...it's a damned if you do, damned if you don't thing i suppose....i'm generally a very open minded person, because i know that i don't know everything, and that i could be wrong with some of what i think i know...however by being open i'm also able to learn and improve myself......i think i just confused myself re-reading this post before clicking submit

The Hold of the Dark Side

Lately I've been feeling down. Any time I feel down I remember

Yodas quote \"Once you start down the path of the dark side, consume you it will\"

And just like every time that I feel down I look to music for help or answers because music relates to us all.

My favorite band Tool had a song that really related to me and helped me realize some thing new.

Tool-Parabola

\"This body. This body holding me.Be my reminder here that I am not alone in
This body, this body holding me, feeling eternal all this pain is an illusion.

This body holding me reminds me of my own mortality.
Embrace this moment. Remember; we are eternal,
all this pain is an illusion.\"

As Jedi we should try to be beyond our own \"selfish\" pain. Pain can only selfish.

If it wasn't for music I'm sure we would all be in a very dark place. I've always known that music had the power to change or help people but some times \"rerealizing\" something helps.

music has a unique ability to control emotions as well....i've often noticed this in various places...of course we still have to allow it to have that kind of control...it can inspire us to do great things, it can also serve to help us remember things...this often happens when i hear a song come on and i remember where i was when it came out..
