There could also be people reading this thread who aren't commenting because they don't have strong opinions. Their opinion could be swayed one way or the other by this thread and we will never know. And visitors or new members checking our our site might stumble by this thread and read through some of the comments to judge what kinds of people come here. If they see that there are a lot of different opinions, they are likely to see that there are people here who share their worldview, which will make them want to stay a while.

yes i will agree that no one thinks the same way as they did when they looked at this thread. BUT why does this topic need to be discussed over and over again? if we end up doing a circle then what was the point besides increasing our knowledge? yes strengthening our knowledge is a good thing. and yes if we go in a circle we can get more in depth with the topic. am i missing anything else you might respond with Rai?

Code:
what was the point besides increasing our knowledge?

Why must there be a point other than this?

Also Abhaya's entire last post, ignored by you apparantly.

May the Force be with you,

His post was not up while i was typing, so thank you for your consideration with that Rai. -_- The point of this thread was for one person who felt offended to point out her feelings on what has been occurring here on totjo. yes in fact it is a great thread for many people to read on. But in the end the main point was missed.

The point of most threads here changes by the time people move on. My point in joining in was to let Brenna and others like her know that others agree with and support them here. As far as going in circles, so what if we do? There are plenty of other threads here for anyone who doesn't enjoy this topic. It's easy enough to choose a different one. Or start your own. I am a pretty new feminist, so talking about these issues really does help me form my own opinions by hearing different views.

Going back to what Brenna said, I agree there is some kind of weird sexism in the US(and probably other western countries). When I came back from Asia it was very shocking. I had lived in a society where the president was a woman, high ranking generals in the military/police/immigration are women, my boss was a woman, the head of our school was a woman, the superintendant was a women, ad infinitum. I got so used to laws and societal norms formed by women, for women that I took it for granted. The recent war on women, in the US, was launched as a "divide and conquer" strategy by the rich to stave off the unification of men and women and lgbt people under one banner.

Another thing that was said is that feminism is just another ism like racism, classism, sexism, etc. This is true and Jediism(doh!) should see beyond ism's and look at the bigger picture. You can advocate for human rights and help all people, including women, rather than advocating for women's rights, excluding men.

Perhaps the fact that we've had these bad experiences at the hands of misogynists and misandrists means we need to look a little deeper. Perhaps the real problem is bad people.

Speaking of bad people, there are no bad people. The people behave exactly as they are expected to in a society based on individual material gain.

Few are those who see with their own eyes and feel with their own hearts.

Veltra,

You keep switching your point and changing topics.

Over your last few posts you've gone from "Agree to disagree" to "no one's thoughts were changed" to "what is the point" to "we missed the point".

Each time evidence is given to the contrary of your stance you simply move on to a new stance; never defending your stance but rather just continuing to argue seemingly for arguments sake. I enjoy a good debate but this has gone on long enough and I am no longer willing to participate as I feel that there is no longer anything to be gained.

May the Force be with you,
Rai

I have done so because my thoughts have changed. As i have looked over the full thread multiple times now catching things i have missed the previous times. I am not arguing for arguments sake. Yes i have realized that what i said was wrong by answering my own questions by how i believed you would respond. So in the end thank you for changing my views

Also Rai,
My main points changed because of what you were stating. But in the end i still will say we must agree to disagree. maybe it is the wrong phrase to use. But the two sides keep the other sharp. Yes they make them rethink their views. But it does make their views stronger. Agreeing to disagree does not mean that you should just stop the conversation. but yet to stop the attacks ( probably another wrong word i am using) and have a calm discussion/debate. We will never get an answer because from nation all the way down to the person, we all have different thoughts and the thoughts will always collide.

I will only say one thing on this matter. It does not matter what is happening in the world around us. It is not our place to say well they are doing it so it must be ok. We are here because we believe in what we are about and that is Equality. It should not matter what race, gender, or whatever the differences. We should all be treated equally. It is BS to say "hey she wants equal rights so she is sexist, feminist, or what have you. Ever stop to think she wants equal rights because that is what is right? Everyone should stop the arguing as a whole as to who is better and realize we all bleed red ... If you don't that is cool too... Love should be about the soul not the flesh.
