Alcohol, nicotine, and caffeine are addictive. They are drugs just like THC, Opium, and Cocaine.

What I'm having a hard time understanding is how you can condone the use of some drugs, yet vilify others. That's what's ironic. Especially when certain drugs are only legal for economic reasons...not because they are somehow safer or better than the illegal ones...because they aren't.

Yeah, the leftist zealots rail from dawn to dusk how bad it is while championing all the supposed benefits of weed, without mentioning how so many people have dealt with mental issues with the help of cigarettes alone.

I dont believe people "deal" with mental issues with weed, cigarettes or alcohol, so much as they mask or cope using them.

Acute effects of nicotine withdrawal syndrome in pilots during flight

It doesn't seem to make people dangerous while using the drug, but when they're going through withdrawals they can become a hazard to themselves or others...like pilots experiencing "an impairment of cognitive functions during abstinence" or the angry fellow who just needs his fix.

Let me lay out the logic for you.

Alcohol, tobacco, and soda have heath risks. So does most of what you eat. And don't get me started on the poison (witch)doctors give you. However, tobacco, unhealthy as certain forms of it can be, does not put you out of your mind. What mental effects it has are very mild and generally work toward a mild sense of relaxation. Caffeine is bad for you, it seems, but like tobacco, it doesn't put you out of your mind. Alcohol can put you out of your mind, but it requires effort and intent, and this is not the only use of alcohol. Alcohol can be consumed without any drunkenness occurring, all depending on what the drinker wants to do, that is to say, it can be sipped and enjoyed like any other beverage, so it does not exist solely for the purpose of intoxication.

Most, if not all of the drugs you are all arguing should be decriminalized or legalized have the sole purpose of putting one out of their mind.

I can say with experience that cigarettes have anti-depressant qualities. And here I am, quitting for the second time, 12 hours after my last cig and not yet needing another. Cigarettes are simply unhealthy, they do not damage one's life and relationships as drugs or even alcohol can do.

We all have different coping mechanisms and strengths...personally I prefer to cope using knowledge, understanding, and mental discipline, but not everyone has the same level/type of strengths...I don't/won't condemn someone else for being weaker than others, I may pity them though...

I don't believe that's true.

I could argue cocaine doesn't put you out of your mind, it only gives you an energy boost...like caffeine but BETTER!

Or if we have a problem with the heavily processed, white version then why not just let us chew on leaves like some South Americans do?

What you seem to be arguing when it comes to booze, cigs, and coffee is moderation. Well, people have been known to use weed and coke in moderation too.

So far, none of your arguments have given a good reason as to why some drugs are better than others.

Oh, and as for nicotine being mild...hehe...I once tried chewing tobacco ( ) and it made my mind pretty dizzy. It's effect were not mild in the least.

The solution already exists: It's the nicotine patch. As I said the only problem with nicotine is addiction.
