After skipping Monday, as well (due to a combination of factors), I wimped out today and decided to reteach myself a bit of t'ai chi. That went over like a lead balloon. My balance is terrible compared to what it used to be. Getting old sucks.

It's all a matter of practice.. you'll get there :)

Good for you for getting creative. I signed up to a yoga class today, in a similar spirit. Always got on better with it than tai chi, which I found very prescriptive.. "You're doing it wrong!" kind of thing.

I've actually had the exact opposite experience. My t'ai chi teacher in college was very easygoing. In a class of 25, sometimes we didn't even get a single movement done in a week, meeting every morning, because he spent that time ensuring that not only did we understand the motion, but the breath, and the weight distribution, and the significance--why the move needed to be done just so, if you could. But, at the end of the day, if you couldn't, that was fine, too.

I also prefer it (having only tried yoga once or twice) because my joints handle constant gentle movement better than any kind of stasis. They get all stiff and lock up. The goal was to try to get them to a better place so I could attempt something new.

I'm glad you started a yoga class! I hear, when done "properly", it's easily intense enough to be the only workout one needs. I wish you well in it.

I had a number of physical out of balances this week and did not do any nerd fitness . . . more days without meditation than with it and only one day of walking. On the one hand I could hear the "failing lies" and on the other I found the contrast of almost no excercise (after a long period) wonderful to observe. I found that I could not believe the failure lies anymore because I was hungry for those endorphins and the continued improvement of my muscles and joints.

Yesterday I found a 20 minute moving Qi Qong on line.
Today, I went over to the club house and did a couple of miles on the rowing machine and then went for my routine walk.

Feels like the low cycle is over. . . woo hoo!
I do appreciate this thread. Througout the week, I felt you all were saying . . it's o.k. . . it's temporary. . .
