The totjo´s look on suicide

Our job, is to advance our species...
Some will do it by living right, some will do it by showing others how not live...
Some will do it by showing us how to endure, and some will show us how to give up...
This is my personal belief...
I've had the barrel in my mouth...
I don't say this lightly....
I gave myself the chance to enjoy my life, nodody can take it...
TOTJO's official stance is listed in our, 16 "We Believe"s... That is, we believe in the sanctity of life....
We think that all life is precious, and should saved and enjoyed...
However, both officially, and personally, we won't judge someone who takes their own life...
It is their life to do with what they wish....
On walk-about...
Sith ain't Evil...
Jedi ain't Saints....

There ya go. Jestor said it.
On a personal level, how is having such an exestintial view of existence at all useful in regards to living with others? If your leaving the world harms no one, how does anything you do help or hurt others? Why would living a virtuous life have any meaning? After all, you are not hurting or helping anyone, so why would our actions matter at all?

I asked this because I have tried to commit suicide on my own over a month ago. Something in me stopped me and i want to find out what it was.
Thanks to everyone for your feedback on this topic, it pretty much helped hear opinions from more angles than just my own.

I've always viewed it as a permanent solution to a temporary problem....taking the easy way out....I've had plenty of people in my life that chose this end...
it's odd for me to think about...no matter how bad things have gotten or been it's never been an option in my mind...I've been dumped(numerous times) had friends and family members killed, been locked up in a max security brig(long story on that)and a couple trips to county(once for self defense, and once for driving on a suspended license) ...no matter how low I've been I've always had the strength to persevere and fight through the pain...to me it's a sign of weakness to simply give up on anything(I can't stand weakness of any kind) ...as I said in another thread I used my foray into the dark as a source for strength of will and spirit...it's far greater revenge against your opposition to overcome whatever is thrown at you with the strength to spare to fight back
Having rambled all that...there are some circumstances in which I can understand the choice...terminal illness, because you already know and you're simply dictating the terms...the other being more militaristic...being captured with no chance of escape and certain death...in which case it is far greater to go down fighting, taking as many adversaries as possible...
But that's just my view...I've never quit or given up on anything....ever...

Warning: Spoiler!
There is passion, yet there is peace
Through passion I gain strength and knowledge
Through strength and knowledge I gain victory
Through victory I gain peace and harmony
Through peace and harmony my chains are broken
There is no death, there is the force and it shall free me

Life is precious do not dishonor it prematurity. There are those around you that if you leave too early may have a negative path because of the energy void that is the result of your absence. Relax go with the flow everythig always works out just fine.
Give it a couple of decades before you decide. Your perceptions will evolve.

lol, well, thank you Zenchi, or, your welcome...
Something I learned, is I have control of my mind...
I understand how I perceive the "dark" in my life, I came to terms with it... I came to realize it isn't really dark, just another facet of myself... For me, it simply doesn't exist...
And that, well, we already have a dark/light thread, lots of them, lol... So I won't derail this thread anymore...

When someone has degraded your soul to the point of non-existence. Then shame on those who call themselves your friend for not picking up your pieces and with a smile on their face, Elmer's gluing them back together like a true friend only can.
Suicide is tragic. But it shouldn't be your final act. Everybody has an Act III....
And there is ALWAYS a way out.
I suspect many of us have been to that edge. And please, if anyone reading this thread is hanging in the balance, talk to us. We will see it through together
Because nobody should ever feel alone.

I am heartbroken by what I have read here today. The misconception is that your life is yours to give or take. Your existence, your consciousness, does not belong to you, it belongs to us all because together and with all, We Are The Force.
Your life comes into existence naturally and so it should go out naturally. To rip the essence of your consciousness from the fabric of the Force is a pain that is felt more deeply than any other. The pain you feel, from whatever assault has been laid on you, that would make you wish to end your conscious state, is not your fault, and you must fight with every fiber of your being to overcome such persecution.
Life is precious in any form and should not be bantered or talked about so flippantly as I have read here today. PLEASE ASK FOR HELP IF YOU EVER FEEL SO BADLY THAT SUICIDE IS A POSSIBLE ANSWER. With all my heart...PLEASE
