I could be wrong, but I don’t think that’s exactly what he meant. Nor do I feel that anyone here would try to explain it that way to a child.
But, we are welcome to our own interpretations… and cynicisms. Hahahahhaha

Sorry, I was being rude. I could have worded that better.

Its interesting when people say death isn't real. In the hospital ive been in the room when people have passed violently and peacefully, ive consoled family members, washed the deceased body and put them in a bag.
It was real enough to kill you, and it doesn't look pleasent or fanciful in anyway.
Ive also witnessed one. (Though not the only)particularly gruesome suicide attempt that failed and left the individual in a vegatative state as we were able to resuscitate the individual. A particularly horrifying way to live out your time here to me.
I would have a hard time explaining even to adults that its just a transformation, and its just there attachment to form that's the problem.
That would be both disrespectful to them, the life that was lived, and life in general.
Time is short on this level of the tower as it is. I see little point in making it as meaningless an experience as possible.

If anything is rendered meaningless, its those cute little philosophical platitudes that get tossed out so much here.

I remember one lady passing and her granddaughter begging me to help her and I couldn't by law as she was DNR.
I supposed I should have just told her the bile coming up and all that was just a transformation of energy....
I'm sure she would have understood her attachment was what was causing her suffering and really didn't mean anything anyway...

I'm sorry, I keep seeing existentialism used incorrectly...so here it is:
Definition of EXISTENTIAL
1 : of, relating to, or affirming existence <existential propositions>
2 a : grounded in existence or the experience of existence : empirical
b : having being in time and space
3 [translation of Danish eksistentiel & German existential] : existentialist
— ex·is·ten·tial·ly adverb
What you're referring to would be closer to Nihilism, although that's not exactly a "life is just an illusion" philosophy either...
