I have found it helpful to think of bullying and its effect on the human condition in terms of forging steel. It's an "over-played" analogy, I'll grant, but that does not lessen its truth.
We (the bullied) are heated in the fires of hatred (the hatred of others that is), and quenched in the love and support of our friends and families. If the mix is wrong, the steel is not strong. Either too much fire, resulting in a brittle blade. Which would be the person dwelling in a place of negativity and finding that they have no real strength to resist adversity, and will simply break when "tested". Or too much quenching, leaving the person soft and pliable, never really finding strength or form of his/her own. This blade will bend easily, and will never be of much use. But when fired and quenched correctly, a temperance is achieved that results in the best steel. Resistant to damage, won't bend or break easily, holds its edge well, and is prized above all other blades.

And, someone already commented, ya gotta have oxygen too... lol...
As far as needing an accelerant, does paper count as an accelerant?

Fires start when a flammable and/or a combustible material, in combination with a sufficient quantity of an oxidizer such as oxygen gas or another oxygen-rich compound (though non-oxygen oxidizers exist that can replace oxygen), is exposed to a source of heat or ambient temperature above the flash point for the fuel/oxidizer mix, and is able to sustain a rate of rapid oxidation that produces a chain reaction.
In case anyone was curious.

I actually almost used this same analogy yesterday instead of my chili analogy. That was because using this same analogy we can also separate the two different kinds of forges as we do the two different kinds of stress. There is distress (negative stress caused by destructive kinds of stress such as hate) which is similar to a coal forge. Easy to find, easy to use, achieves many different results. Eustress (positive stress caused by constructive kinds of stress such as a challenge at work) is similar to a gas forge. A little bit harder to make but very clean and consistent results. Why use the old method when the new method works so much better to achieve a desired result?

Khaos wrote: Of course the steel analogy works, just as much as the fire one. It doesn't really add anything that hasn't been said already though. Just gives it prettier wrapping.
Ah, but presentation is everything... lol...

Oh, and as for my panties. Bullies and this discussion have no effect what so ever. lol But good
job trying to upset me. Though now it makes me wonder just how right I was about cruelty not really helping society...if it got you upset enough to lash out, that is. Did it help you at all?
Lol, I wasn't trying to upset you, but its a wonder if I didn't that you felt it important enough to mention.
As fir me being upset, at what point did I "lash out"?
