Another reason to support the right to arms...?

Yeah, I hate guns and most of the people who own them. I probably hate people who try to justify having them even more because it's a ridiculous argument in any application. I don't care what it's for or what justification you think there is for having them, there's no reason for anyone to have them. I don't care if you're big into hunting, I think that makes you even more of a coward since you get off on killing defenseless animals. Why don't you go hunt a grizzly bear with a buck knife since you're such a "gamesmen" and you think killing animals makes you so much of a "man"? Kill something that's got a chance of killing you instead of preying on a deer walking through the woods, or a pheasant, or a duck, or turkey, or any other animal for that matter. If you're such a great hunter why don't you try getting close enough to that deer to take it out with your bare hands and see how great your odds are of succeeding? Something tells me there'd be a lot less "hunters" if it required actual "hunting".

Here's another tip: Guns don't add inches to your dick. There's a big group of people out there who need to come to terms with that reality too. Oh another one: Guns don't make you a tough guy, nor do they make you any better at defending yourself. I've seen a ton of these jerkoffs who think having a gun makes them a badass somehow, and more often than not their total assholes who treat people like crap because if you get them pissed it's "I'll shoot ya" and they're dumb enough/insecure enough to do it. For others it's simply having the power to take a life, the perceived power of having that gun and what it's capable of doing is somehow self inflating to the individual and gives them some false sense of power. I think those folks should be forcibly castrated along with the rest of the big gun nuts I've outlined above(I'm being sarcastic, but just barely).

The ones that really get me as well are these people who shout up and down about having guns as a mechanism of self defense. My advice to you is that if you're in any situation or surrounding where you think you need to carry a gun around to be safe, maybe you'd be smarter to remove yourself from that situation or surrounding. Some of you are overestimating your own importance as well, like the douchebag who lives out in the suburbs but thinks he has to have a f-king armory in his house because someone might come to take his stuff. Yeah, sure pal. It's paranoid overreaction to a threat that exists on a very small scale and is more likely to never happen to you, than it is for it to happen to you even once in your entire life. Did you know that more often than not, when a homeowner has a gun and tries to stop a burglary in their home, the gun they use to protect themselves ends up being used on them? Yeah, look it up, it's true. So much for protection huh?

I've heard people who lived in rough areas try to say they need a gun to be safe as well. Here's a thought, MOVE SOMEWHERE ELSE! Truth of that matter is apart from the random mugging which is still less than likely to happen to you, unless you're involved with people who would use guns against you, odds are no one is going to be trying to shoot you even if you do live in a rough neighborhood. Trust me, I've been there and done that, and if it's getting beat up that you think you're going to protect yourself from you're horribly mistaken there as well. All you are going to do by flashing a gun is prompt a group of people trying to beat you up to use the gun on you! You then give them a lethal weapon to cause you worse harm than just taking a bit of an ass beating (Which isn't the worst thing in the world anyways, you'd know that if you've ever had to do it on any kind of a consistent basis, take boxing for example).

I don't care if people think it's their "Right", what justification they think they have for owning guns, it's stupid, it puts people in the way of unnecessary harm, and it does nothing but give people a reason to hurt or kill other people basically because they can, and then they wait for a situation where they can then be justified in some way to do just that. You want to kill? You want to play with guns? Join the military, go fight on a battlefield and then come back and tell me how great guns are when you've watched your friends and colleagues murdered and maimed by them and witnessed the true horror. How many of you have ever seen someone you know shot? How many of you have ever saw a friend of yours gunned down or been shot yourself? How many of you have visited people you know in the hospital after they were shot, and got to see the true glory of guns at their full potential? I've experienced all of the above. I've seen people I know shot right in front of me, I've been shot at before(not quite hit but grazzed), I've visited my friends in the hospital after they were gunned down, and I've witnessed these people and the pain they had to deal with afterwards as they try to heal and deal with the damage from it both physically and mentally. I had a friend who came from El Salvador and Honduras, his name was Joaquin. He'd been shot by fully automatic weapons and his body was mangled and scarred from it, he also couldn't walk right from taking so many shots, his brother had also been murdered by gunfire. I don't see any of these things as being a right of anyone to do to anyone else, nor do I see any rationale for giving people the means to do this for any reason. When you've seen the reality of it and witnessed the horror, that tends to change your mind.

Two things I would like to say regarding this statement.

If guns are outlawed then there will likely be fewer gun deaths. Aside from homicide there are gun-related accidents that happen all the time. No guns = fewer gun accidents. And if guns are illegal then a cop who sees you with one can arrest you...without having to wait for you to commit a crime with it. Will there be people who break the law and carry? Sure. Will there be fewer? Almost certainly.

My feelings on the subject...we've tried allowing guns for years. The gun-related deaths keep rising. How about we try it without guns for a bit? Maybe it doesn't work and we have to allow them again but you can't know what will happen unless an attempt has been made to actually do it. Unless you've visited an alternate dimension where they tried it or you can see the future. :P

Second point, you can learn techniques to disarm someone with a knife (especially seeing as how most Americans don't throw a knife regularly/accurately or even know how to properly hold one). A 10 year old, on the other hand, could likely empty an entire clip at you from 50 yards away before you can get near them.

Obviously you have never owned a gun. My dick is well over 15 inches long and I attribute every inch to firearms and military training. I dare say most of us have to tie our dicks up in our belts to keep from stomping on them in the heat of battle.

Resticon;

I vote that we outlaw automobiles. My father died in a car accident during a storm in the year 1990. He was thrown from the vehicle after his seat belt broke during the roll over and crushed. You and I and all other people should never be allowed to drive. EVER AGAIN. People die in automobile accidents EVERY DAY. EVERY DAY. I don't think that ANYONE should be allowed to drive a car, truck, or SUV. EVER AGAIN.

And yes; my father did die in a car accident. So I can attest that my plan of total auto outlaw is a legitimate answer to the THOUSANDS of deaths every MONTH caused by vehicles.

Auto death statistics
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_motor_vehicle_deaths_in_U.S._by_year

Also; kill all aids victims. They spread aids and have aids and are going to die anyways. Lets outlaw them too while we are at it. Anyone who has aids or drives a car shall be put to death or imprisoned.

That will reduce THOUSANDS of deaths every month.

Shall we start a petition?

Sorry to hear about your father Paladin but to me there is a difference between an accident during travel and an accidental discharge of a weapon. A gun has one purpose. To kill. Vehicles be they airplanes, trains, cars, bikes, etc. are constantly tested and safety features are improved to reduce death.

As for killing AIDS victims...I do so hope that is rhetorical. We should be continuing to search for a cure for these people. As for the people who have the disease and intentionally spread it to people (basically weaponizing it), they are often convicted of murder/manslaughter. And they don't just go down the street and shop for AIDS. Yet you can do that with a gun.

Either way those are both irrelevant points as they are people or objects created for another purpose. A gun's only purpose is to kill and can be used by anyone who can squeeze the trigger. When was the last time you heard about a child killing someone with a vehicle or with AIDS? I heard about a kid shooting up his school less than 10 miles from me just last month.

And while you're of course welcome to your opinion, I would most certainly vote against a ban on automobiles as I am a professional driver with 2 licenses. Kind of how I pay my rent and put food on the table most of the year. Yet if they pushed for better driving regulations and a more advanced test to get your license, I'd be all for that. Where I live now driving tests are done on a closed off parking lot where they make sure you can back-up straight, signal and park. In my opinion, it's absolutely ridiculous.

A child was killed by a falling TV yesterday, and I wonder if I have a right to keep my TV... I have a few tools which could do some serious damage in my shed too. I think a gun is a tool, the difference is, guns are designed to kill living creatures specifically.

I think its a simple equation, if you have a valid reason to kill living creatures, then your allowed to be considered for owning a gun. Everyone else, no. That is sort of how it works here, if you hunt you have to have a hunting license. If you shoot recreationally, you have to be a member of a licensed shooting club and store the weapons at the club etc. The US constitution seems (what would I know about it!) irrelevant on this issue as any contemporary military force is not going to be phased by any number of people with rifles and sidearms.

Now your just arguing with semantics. How is a firearm; which causes far LESS deaths than a car "Safer" or "better"? Your argument is on deaths. So I am offering a simple solution to save MILLIONS of lives here.
