You know why the straight voice is so quiet?
Cause if a matter doesnt matter to us so much, so we have no voice in it...
I told my co-worker this morning...
He ask about Obama and whether our rights were being taken away...
So I referenced a few things...
1. I dont own a gun... They are trying to take away this right from me... I dont care really... I wont own a gun, so it actually will never affect me...
But I sure dont wanna lose any rights... Is it important enough for me to protest? Nah...
2. How about the right to have an abortion? Im a man, what right do I have to speak on what a woman does with her body? None... Do I have an opinion? Sure... Want to hear it? Im against abortion for my offspring... Can I make my wife carry a baby to term? nope... Should I force her to take risks with her own health to get rid of a 'baby' that she doesnt want?
So, Im of the opinion, that this is a decision for each to make for themselves... If I could give birth, you can see what I would decide, but thats not a possibility...
Am I gonna rally? No...
3. Being gay? Im straight as a guy can be... But, who am I to step on the rights of those who are gay? I have some very good friends that are... And, they have more stable relationships than I do.. or so it would seems at times... lol...
Does this affect me? No, and I wouldnt march for it either...
We all have our life's missions, and only so much time to dedicate to (what we perceive as) the improvement of the planet...
I try to teach people to think for themselves... And provide them with a sense of self worth and well being...

I would think in this community this is simple a non-issue. It is for me. I don't care about your sexual orientation.
I just wish the gay men would quite hitting on me. Don't laugh, my wife thinks it's funny as hell. All my life, even at this age I get hit on. Last summer on a cruise a guy followed me down a hallway to introduce himself.
Why guys? Why can't it be pretty young women or rich older women...then my wife wouldn't think it's so funny.

Oh, if what Jestor said is true (that it's such a non-issue that it's not a conversation piece), then that proves there's hope in the galaxy!
I think about it because online communities are common gathering places for those who have encountered "personal resistance" out in the 'verse (Firefly reference). Anonymity provides some protection; faceless communication seems "safer" to some. Who knows why we're here or why we do it.
It's certainly cheaper than going to bars and discotheques!
"To each their own," of course; that aside, I hope the theme of "condition-less acceptance" is, in fact, the norm.
I'm rambling. I hope I made sense.

It's that glow, Rickie. It probably registers on gaydars because most non-hetero dudes wouldn't approach a guy that doesn't register on gaydar. That's the price you pay for being radiant.

Yeah, I guess it is one of those things that doesn't have to be a conversation piece . . . It'd be like having a conversation about our skin color for the sake of it in a way . . . though a conversation like that could find a way to be interesting or even illuminating . . . I guess it's an intimate detail in getting to know another person . . .

Bottom line up front in my book is, if the breathe air and bleed red, I'm ok with that. Me? I'm straight, and I'm married, however that doesn't mean I'm going to be scared off by those who aren't

Maybe as I am considered the 'norm' (haha, you should see in my head... Not to mention stories I can tell on myself!), these issues seem trivial...
But, if I was subjected to even the occasional snide remark, or look, I would feel different...
So, I really have no basis for how others feel about stuff...
I can try to empathize, but it will never be the same...

This cropped up on Facebook the other day and I thought it relevant enough to post here. It highlights one of the human ways in which lives can be affected by a lack of equality in legislation. Thankfully we have Civil Partnerships (and maybe soon Gay Marriage too) here in the UK but our US cousins are currently not so lucky.....
