This one comes from KageKeeper.

So here is my question: How do you, a professed Sith, a "Darksider", view yourself different than a Jedi, a professed "Lightsider"?

I'm going to leave my views on Jediism outside for this one.
Our ideologies are different, for starters. Jedi are based around peace, harmony and knowledge. Sith are based around controlling passion and acquiring strength, in whatever form it comes in, whether physically or intellectually.

The key difference, overall, is about the inspiration. The reason. Jedi and the Light side, as far as I can see, seek to better society and the people around them. Sith and the Dark side seem to act on an individual level, pursuing whatever it is they like. My quest for power, as such, has definitely assisted me in my career, and this in turn allows me to provide for my family. I become better, faster, smarter, stronger, for my own gain and whatever I put myself towards.

So, tell me: What is your view of a "dark side"? How do you perceive darkness? Is it a perspective? Or, is it a literal thing?

Darkness, I feel, is that which is, or would be, shunned by society. It's definitely a perspective. It's the willingness to overlook or flat out rebel against social norms or cultural conventions. The dark side is doing things without having to worry about what "people would think", because you either don't care about worrying about what others think or because you're good enough to hide it. To put things in perspective; becoming a Force Realist, Jedi OR Sith, is probably 'darkness' of a sort, as it puts you in a place outside normal society, that normal people may not be ready or willing to accept.

There's also the literal darkness, which is what happens when I turn my light off and go to bed.

Why do you want to be a Sity?

I will assume you meant Sith. Easy enough mistake to make.

I've gone over this a few times, but I'll shorten it. Because it fits in with my philosophies. If it didn't, I wouldn't be one. If it ever stops fitting in with how I think and feel, I'll stop being one.

I have no other questions at the moment.

It's to prevent thread clogging, and so I can better keep track of what's being asked and by whom.

Zenchi wrote: I've got one; what exactly are (in detail) ALL of the simularitues between Lavey's Satanism and Sithism?
What if any are the differences.. And I dont care who's gone over it before, I'm asking "you're" opinion William....

It's the overall mindset and the focus on the Self, for what the Self wants. To the Satanist and the Sith, we are all the centres of our own universes. There's not enough Sith texts to really go into detail about the exact similarities and differences, however. That will be for another time.

Edit for Zenchi: That IS my opinion. The goals of a LaVeyan Satanist or a Sith student tend to be the same: Acquiring power. They're both elitist orders, based on finding remarkable individuals and then building upon that foundation. They're both meritocracies who have no respect for people who can't walk the walk. They're not based on faith, but on study and action.

But that sucks all the "fun" out of it...
I wasn't asking for a textbook opinion, I asked yours, and that's not much of an answer....

This one comes from our very own Wescli Wardest!

What is the Sith path to you? Like, what atracts you to it and how would you see it's role or you role in it?

What attracts me to it? It's the fancy titles, of course. I kid, but hell, when I become a Darth...

The Sith Path to me is one of many Ways towards an end. It's a means, a philosophy. It's the quest for power. Power to be used for whatever it is I wish to use it for, as determined by my own goals and ethics.

What's my role in the Sith path? Just a stygian traveller, a practitioner, seeking to improve himself and finding a philosophy that helps. See, it's a mindset I've always had, the Dark Paths only help strengthen and refine it.

I see the difference, I think? It's all about you and what you want and getting what you want? Getting what you want makes you right. You win.

Because it fits in with my philosophies. If it didn't, I wouldn't be one. If it ever stops fitting in with how I think and feel, I'll stop being one.

That seems convient but not a commitment?

Bluntly put, yes.

I'm not an inconsiderate sociopath. I can and will put the needs of others before me if there's a good and rational reason for it. If I've got a few bucks, a charity (of my choosing, with research on their politics and methods) just might get that few bucks. Logic and control play heavily on my decision making.

I get what I want, sure. But you missed out on the important part. What is it I want?

And yes, I'm committed to my Path and my Way. But ultimately it's mine. If the Force Academy or Sith Order ever demanded that I do something against my will or my ethics, they would quickly lose a member. I would either go elsewhere or study on my own. You should conisder the same. What if the Jedi Order asked something of you that you didn't agree with? Started telling you to do things, or think a certain way against your will? It's not lacking committment if you think for yourself.
