When you trade dollars for hours you will never become financially independent. You need to learn to create revenue streams.

ive only very recently come to understand this so i dont know exactly what to tell you to do specifically except to begin with the idea that as a Jedi you are meant to be whatever you choose to be

I'm on schedule to completly retire in less than 2 years. I'll be 33 and free. I can show you the way to do it, even over the net, but that is a convo for PM.

I know many multi-multi millionaires because they were willing to work hard and pay the price of success early on so they can play the rest of their lives. Or you can play now and pay later. Either way there is always a cost involved.

And none of them used, abused, hurt, swindled, lied, cheated, stole or forced anyone to get where they are.

i'd be happy just to be a good person (i'm working on that)...

i'd be ecstatic if everyone in the world had that same simple desire...

That's the idea I think, the less you have the less you've spent which means the money add's up.

Wealth is best measured in capacity to generate wealth, not the sum of the purchase prices of stuff owned. That is how I like to think of the difference between capitalism and consumerism (but its probably wrong, works for me!).

When I briefly worked in real estate I saw that most of those who lived 'the life' were actually going backwards and living beyond their means. Many had a headstart through inheritance though... so normal people (start with nothing) cannot keep up with that spending/lifestyle, but it seems common for people to abuse debt to 'live rich' even in an unsustainable way. The ones who were 'really' rich walked around in cheap clothes and drove a 20 year old car they've looked after - they just weren't spending/wasting it.

Though we dunno how long we're here for so its a puzzle how to achieve a balance between happiness in the now and financial security for the then.

Introverted extropian, mechatronic neurothealogizing, technogaian buddhist.
Likes integration, visualization, elucidation and transformation.

i worked myself into the ground...damaging my body along the way 40-60 hours a week for 15 of the last 20 years and have almost nothing to show for it...i didn't make frivolous purchases, had a savings account etc...then the housing market collapsed and i was laid off...i had enough saved to pay all my bills for 3 months without worry...but the job market was non existent...florida still has the highest unemployment rate in the country, and the slowest recovery rate...just this past week i've filled out 15 applications that have yielded 0 returned calls or emails...in the past 6 months since losing my last job i've filled out around 200 applications with the same results...i have plenty of ideas for starting my own business...none of which i have the capital to start...and due to the economic collapse my credit rating took a sound pummelling...

that's the type of person i'd be...

a modest sized house for my needs, so no more than 3 bedrooms (like i had before things went south)
a home for my mom and a live in nurse to help take care of her
finish the work on my 2 vehicles. (my mustang and my 1966 power wagon)
enough funds to keep my business going...

anything more than that would be excess out of which i would do various philanthropic endeavors....
