I wonder (for the sake of discussion) how you would feel if I said that I am yet to met a transgendered person who wasn't forcing their beliefs and agenda on others and contributing to the widening conflict between genders and their constitutionally afforded privileges?
I would suggest you actually talk to a transgender person before opening your foul trap, hypothetically speaking, of course. From that statement alone it is evident the hypothetical you hasn't bothered to learn anything about transgender people, much less talk to a transgender person about their experiences, and it shows brighter than sun.
As an aside, if the actual you is interested, I posted a short pamphlet about queer terminology which might interest you ( here is the thread for it ).
Look, I'm saying this out of nowhere, this is the conclusion I've come to from studying economics. It's not like I'm just saying this because I enjoy pissing people off, although some might get that impression.
Charming.
Didn't think that you would like it much.
But regardless, both statements might be true of our experiences, but they are discriminatory. No matter how you package it up.
Last time I checked, even people with money were still people. And bundling them all up as uncaring and "making their money off the back of others" is a massive generalisation. Discriminatory. No less so than saying all trandgender people are just demanding more privileges than other genders.

Though its true to an extent..... I have some investments and they are a pain in the arse to manage, but people still take advantage of it as if it were a gift from another land of plenty.

That being said, Warren Buffet and Bill Gates are examples of people who can remain grounded despite their wealth and give HUGE sums of money to charity while continuing to employ thousands who CHOOSE to work for them. You could argue that they are just seeking atonement for being rich by donating, but their donations of millions will do more to help this world than my $5 donation ever will. I'm also happy to have the job I do even though I know it is making someone above me WAY more rich than I could ever be. Just sayin'.
Still, there are some truly crappy rich people in this world *cough* KANYE WEST *cough* who pretty much throw their wealth in the faces of everyone they meet. You know, the one's with houses so far from the street that they would never hear a garbage man anyway.

if you think rich people are bad then you have to choose to be poor in order to be able to see yourself as a good person

those are the kind of wealthy i admire and praise...sure they have more than they will ever need, but that's not because they were greedy or selfish...they made wonderful decisions that panned out and were rewarded for it. and they use their wealth for good reasons...Senan wrote: That being said, Warren Buffet and Bill Gates are examples of people who can remain grounded despite their wealth and give HUGE sums of money to charity while continuing to employ thousands who CHOOSE to work for them. Its pathetic selfish pettiness. The kind that permeates every level of society, not just the rich im afraid. Unfortunately those people have managed to push it to the point of ruining someone's life. And I'm willing to bet good money it was only one or two cantankerous people who complained and got the poor guy into trouble.

It never ceases to amaze me how people of power and privilege find it so unreasonable that others should be treated with dignity and respect, that they should be treated as human beings, that they should have the right to live and work unabated by social and economic pressures. Aside from hurt feelings, how has what I have done just now caused any harm? None. None. None. That garbage man was put out of work for 30 days. In 30 days a person can lose their job, fall behind on their rent, fall behind on their car payments, not be able to feed their family memebers, etc. 30 days could put someone into dire straits. Hurt feelings can't hold a candle to that kind of injustice.
