Because in a conversation, I dont use vulgar language (often, lol) or resort to insults and or statements of superiority/inferiority, doesn't mean I'm not being honest...

You know my stance on personal attacks, lies and such. It makes no difference to me whether it is written by Shakespeare or a chav. Words are only as good (or bad) as the accuracy of the information they convey, hence making the rough honest chav far more respectable (and deserving) than a mouthy Shakespeare fancy-pants.

Convictions are more dangerous foes of truth than lies.

There's only three options with a full cup...empty it out so you can put more in, get a bigger cup to hold more, or the beast's favorite: smash the cup to bits eliminating the cups limited capacity and making all the world a cup

Yes, sorry, I was on my way out, and thought "I wonder how that sounded?"

I dont think you intentionally work, to personally attack (most of the time, lol), but, you dont feel obligation to make sure you are not perceived that way either, lol....

You feel (I am assuming, lol, on what I know of you, and our history together...:)) that you can speak as you like, and it is up to the others to grow and callous up and not be offended...

lol, different philosophy on communication is the best I can offer...

We seem to have occasion to talk about this every now and again :

"10. Jedi serve in many ways. Each action performed, no matter the scale, influences the world. With this in mind Jedi perform each action with peace, caring, love, compassion and humilty. So it is that each Jedi improves the world with each deed they perform."

How many of us do this when we post, or, how often?

It is actually quite an exception when I am not understood online. Mostly because given the medium, and the years of practice in communicating in it, combined with a sincere effort to communicate and be understood, it has become, as with anything easier, and more efficient.

Emotocons help too, but I dont really have a need for them anymore.

If my words are to have meaning, and be listened too,too be of benefit to myself and others, if I am going to take the time to type out something, then there is an effort on my part to make sure I can communicate and indeed am trying to communicate.

Most who get offended, or misunderstand, I have found, want to be offended, or misunderstand.

Getting offended is something that is impossible to avoid online. Too big a melting pot of cultures, opinions, continents, etc.

Misunderstanding, well, as I have said, I have found that seems to be more intentional, that strangely, people are not coming to forums to be understood, or truly communicate at all.

Not only are they only waiting for there turn to talk, but are unconcerned if what they are saying is being understood, or even if there saying anything of value at all.

I would say that this is true for many, but not all...

I came here, to totjo, to learn... And I have learned many a lesson... Your home site was one I looked into, but felt that the people there thrive on conflict (not that it is true, but it is what it felt like), and through their examples as I read the forums, I thought it wasnt for me...

As I tell everyone when they say that about totjo, "Not every place is for everyone"...:)

Ive had enough conflict (in life) without having to prove to people on the internet that I do know what I am talking about... And, I dont have a problem publicly saying I am wrong, that I didnt look at something that way, or apologizing...

I do try to look for what people say, but, either my head is not in the same place as the poster, or I misread what is wrote...

It happens, and ren got me a few times, lol still does...:)

If you (anyone) and I met in the physical form, we would not begin conversations with our beliefs, but as that is the basis for our site, people who dont know each other start flapping their gums......

We would begin with basics like where we work, kids, marriage, kind of car we drive, etc...

Ah well, fun times......

I don't do personal attacks. What I do is ignore people's emotions when reading a word. The offence is in the offended. "You're gay therefore you're wrong" and all ad-hominem fallacies are personal attacks.
