It's the Spice Girls/Hanson/Nsync/?/Jonas Brothers/Justin Beiber Syndrome. You can hate them because they're trendy and disposable, but that just makes your hatred trendy and disposable. If you ignore them, you are free (and comparing them in any way to Led Zeppelin just looks that much more ridiculous in an internet meme). The only problem I have with lame exposure like that is my "Never mind the Beiber, give us the Fukushima" stance. It's just a distraction from more important things . . . like the pivotal global influence of Duck Dynasty.

I'll say this as a punk rock musician:
Haters are bound to give you as much exposure as fans. Slander gives you an edgy mystique, and beat-downs give you a kind of badass street-cred whether you win or lose coz talk is cheap. Somebody else's shit-talk is like a commercial. Being hated makes you relevant.

That implies that his friends and loved ones are also of any value

Like I said: He was a pretty prominent figure in the civil rights movement of the sixties--as ironic as it seems.

I mostly just liked what the Satanist guy was saying about the freedom of speech, and how Fred Phelps's hatred was actually an accelerator of gay civil rights. You gotta read between the lines with Satanists. Knee-jerks are blinding.

Weather or not these people get more attention from Fred's death bothers me none. However I think we all can agree that theses people follow there own agenda separate from other baptist. They follow a dark path full of hate and angry, and a massage that is not kind. I think they are a fad that has lasted too long, and now with there leader gone I believe meany people can relax and rejoice in the fact that is may end the church and stop future pickets at the funerals of brave service men that gave there lifes to help stop terrorism, and oppression upon human freedoms.

Lets just hope his daughter will stop too with the passing of her father.

That post makes me a little dissapointed.

Freedom of Speech is useful for it gives people a platform to challenge the currently accepted social values. When a social value is challenged it is good, it gives us a chance to reaffirm and remind ourselves why something is that case to begin with. If the opposing voice is strong and unified enough then we can enact change to the commonly held social values - mixed race marriages, homosexual marriages etc.

What ideas are you reaffirming and reminding yourself of when you hear them or talk about them? Do you choose to reaffirm the idea that you can hate people? Or do you choose to reaffirm the idea of the value of equality?

Choose wisely...

Hatred always wins when you respond in kind.

I dont see indifference spreading his message...

Indifference about his death I mean... I dont care, not happy, not sad...

Actually, kind of sad now that I think about it, becasue he was denied the ability to change his mind, and, now he will forever be thought of this way...

Sure they do...

Whether you can see it or not...

And, whether I can see all of it or not, it most likely exists to someone, or something...

To you, maybe not...

But, that doesnt make it so... It does, but only for you...

Actually, by some of the words I see, they have value, however, it is negative... They are a example of 'hownot to be'...

Jedi ain't Saints....
