Take something you are learning here, and make it into more than philosophy. That kind of thing is up to you to do yourself. There are many here (including myself) who have done this all on our own out of personal revelation and inspiration.

Like other's have said
- If you want to learn something other than philosophy, take a little break and endeavor in something that is not philosophy for a while. or
- Address the sections/threads that pertain to learning things beyond it, they have been here for a while.

Well, perhaps ToTJO just isn't ready for this kind of thing. Maybe somewhere down the road we'll be able to support other aspects of life and thinking. Afterall, Jediism, as taught here, isn't just a religion, its a way of living and thinking. One can hardly get through life on philosophy alone.

Still, such things take time. Christian schools didn't just pop up right away I suppose, there was a period of growth in the church beforehand.

We cannot allow just anyone to teach... I hope the reasoning is self evident...

This has been, and will continue to be, a limiting factor... Until our number of teachers again, increases...

It was harder when there was only Council to teach, and run the site, and live our lives, lol... Believe it or not, it is getting better....

Not that any of you "are just anyone", but there are people posting in this thread, that post very seldom....

Every Knight brings knowledge, and ideas on what they would like to see taught, and do contribute to the base of lessons offered...

Currently, this is the "how" to add official lessons....

But like Wescli's bushcraft thread, that is an option....:)

Well, perhaps ToTJO just isn't ready for this kind of thing. Maybe somewhere down the road we'll be able to support

The ideas being born is a good thing...

I've told others before, if you are going to have an idea, you must be prepared to follow it through, to treat it as your baby, and spearhead it, keep it alive... Feed the fires, keep it stoked..

Etc....

All things in their right time...;)

On walk-about...

Jedi ain't Saints....

Indeed! =) Well, I'm not really of sufficient rank to spearhead this sort of thing yet, but I'd be happy to help anyway I can.

I plan to be much more consistently active around here. I went on a long hiatus but I am back now for good!

I sincerely apologize if I seemed like I was trying to insult you Desolous. That was not my intention and I did not mean that you were not taking initiative to learn other things. I meant simply that currently TOTJO is at a stage where it can only really offer the basics and the only current way that it can change is through the initiative of members like you. I'm sure that many members, such as myself, are glad that you started this thread,as it does address important things that I don't see talked about here that often. It is important to remember however that as a religion Jediism is still growing, quite rapidly I might add. There is a reason for the current coursework to be as it is and I personally am benefiting from it greatly. It most definitely isn't perfect, but that is why we have members here who care as much as you do. Once more members reach knight status there will be a larger variety of opinions and a wider knowledge base from which to teach. My other point also was not that the great thinkers used pure philosophy to do all of the things they did, it is that all of the great thinkers were philosophical of mind. Philosophy came first which is what happens here at totjo. Once you "gain" (i suppose embrace is a better word here) your philosophical mind then you can go on to learn the other things in a much more meaningful way. That is why I am perfectly content to start with the philosophy here and then move on to other things when I am ready. In my opinion it makes sense to learn philosophy first because without knowing myself how can I go on to know the world?

I apologize if it seems like I've been rambling. I occasionally find it difficult to organize my thoughts while I write.

May the Force be with you,
Rai

Khaos! I was wondering what had happened to you, man. I've been away for a while, but also hadn't seen you post anything since I got back. I was missing your responses, even though they seemed to hack off some people here. lol

Glad to see you're still around. Although your Dark-Side-esque profile photo is missing now...
