Would this make me as bad? or would it have been the coolest put down ever? I think i was right in just leaving, but you know how it is. Have you guys ever experienced the Alpha male syndrome? and how do you think is the best way to deal with such a person??

I think anyone can have an alpha syndrome, even females. It can be healthy when boundaries are understood because it promotes competition, but in your case I think you did the right thing. Instinctive reactions well up inside to confront it, but unless you have some knowledge and strategy any conflict is probably going to be controlled by whoever starts it, knows the ground, and has the most support. I'd probably bounce off the guy to whoever invited me and ask them about what his deal is, and assess what options that leaves you how to deal with it peacefully.

I agree Adder...

Alpha is not male only... However being male, I only speak from this experience, lol...

I've seen, and met, some Alpha females...

But, as our society is male dominated as a rule, they are less frequently noticed....

Right, to a point, lol... And in my opinion....;)

I would agree to say "natural alphas", those that grew to alpha, do not need communal reinforcement... However, it is given, regardless, by the pack... The "naturals" try to help those not natural, to develop their "natural"-ness...

Those who seize it, like bullies, do use the reinforcement... But, they must take it... They must bully, and belittle the rest of the pack to assert their status...

Those who seem natural, go about our way, not giving two poops (overall) at what the majority say... Sometimes, and I might say, most often, that makes us loners....;)

Those who force it, seem to care the most what others think... And cannot seem to be alone...

They are both Alpha, just some are natural, and some are not...

I make a good Beta too.. But, only under another who has something to offer, that im interested in....;)

I think that alpha male is a state of mind. While it is a definite personality type. I think we all have moments or days or weeks etc. that we act that way.

Female alphas also tend to be a little more subtle too. A male dominated society means that a strong or dominant woman is discouraged, but shes still there...

Thanks all for the cool posts, i have laughed quite heartedly. I don't really understand anybody's need to be like that. I try to get on with everybody, but can be quite aggressive when cornered.
As to the whole Alpha Male/female I don't think the Guy would feel the need to act in such a way if there wasn't a room full of pretty girls lol!
