Jediism and family reaction
Brenna wrote: I think thats the one Im most concerned about. Significant others. How do people deal with that unless their partners are also inclined towards it?
lol, not really care?
My wife is not a fan...
I could be Christian, Buddhist, Jehovah's Witness, it wouldnt matter...
She is just not into the whole 'religion' thing... From our heated 'conversations', it isnt any particular thing, its the having a belief in something...
She is a good person, she doesnt need some 'made up belief' to get through life... Me either, I just enjoy the mental stimulation (read that as enjoy beating my head on a wall to both, understand, and be understood, lol...)
In the end, I think we have to do what makes us happy..
Being with my wife, makes me happy... (most often, I mean come on, we are married...

My children, make me happy...
My family makes me happy...
Being a Jedi, makes me happy...
Martial Arts makes me happy...
But, she will never like the Jedi... So, we just dont discuss it often...
I give where I think I ought to, and I stand where I think I ought too...
Life is about balance...
Just doing what I can...

On walk-about...
Sith ain't Evil...
Jedi ain't Saints....

It's probably fair to say that both in Europe and the Americas the standard type religions, Christianism, Catholasism, Judism etc. etc. are in some decline, particularly with the younger generations. On that note many parents still living have a variation in streanth of belief in relation to any particular religion and that is always a difficult wall to break through and gain some objective understanding for any person not following the expected ways!!!
My point is this, anyone who feels it necessary to try and explain their thoughts and faith to their family should remember what TOTJO really is. By that I mean that no one in the order following the Jedi way is assuming subservience to 'One Omnipotent Being'. Despite there personal religious stance they are surely accepting that there is a overiding force that binds us all within the universe and that's really it.
Personally I'm an Atheist, however I feel there is something within the universe that keeps the status quo that is the culmination of all the sciences we know of. Based on that feeling alone, for me I don't need to share that philosophy with anyone unless they ask.......in which case I'll tell them!! Burn Bright!!

she loves it. its changed both our lives in a great way
That is one of the things that I want to get across. That Jediism and this temple has changed my life for the better. I even had a teacher send me to a guidance counsellor because they thought I'm in a cult. Like seriously? A cult? Might as well call Christianity, Buddhism and Islam a cult........well I think they do that with islam a lot.
