Failure of Feminism was created by
"Feminism is the idea that we can make both sexes equal by focusing solely on the issues of one of them" - The Amazing Atheist

I watched this and found it interesting, others might as well. Have a watch of the video below, feel free to discuss any issues or comments made etc

i would call myself a feminist in the sense that women should be treated fairly as should everyone.... and i dont know that you can call two beings of similar yet different nature (equal) .... i'd also like to say that i dont Necessarily believe only women are feminine

Sorry, couldnt get through the first minute

The quote does indeed read as ignorant to me. Deliberately perhaps!?

I see perhaps two issues; understanding feminism, and how to achieve balance.

Feminism was a systematic reaction to a systematic problem that existed across the entire spectrum of society, much like racism did. It was a big thing, and still exists in varying degrees everywhere.

In my opinion what we are seeing now with the opposite male movement is just supporting Feminism's main argument; that relatively small groups of men with perhaps valid but isolated complaints might be able to exert disproportionate force against the system to get their way when it comes to gender topics. I dont know if its happening, or if even its a bad thing in all circumstances, but my point is their is a huge difference between the global social fabric scale of what Feminism fought/fights, and the disillusion experienced by individuals with grievance about individual experiences with affirmative action type policies.

So as long as Feminists perceive that disproportionate capability they will probably continue to promote affirmative action to redress that. The intention presented as being a balancing mechanism. I support the idea behind finding balance, but its a process and so long as it doesn't outright exclude others solely for such policy priorities.

Using inequality to find equality sounds silly and so introduces its own perturbations into society, but affirmative action ended up being introduced because the nature and extent of sexism in society was so pervasive that equal standards just did not produce equal results. As with all systems of change I guess they pick the best idea at the time and constantly adjust it to reflect progress towards the ideal goal; perhaps normalization would be a good word, but given human history its not quite normal until we make it normal.

to be honest I think feminism is such a failure we were better off with the old gender roles. things were unequal, but each role had its pros and cons. And in a way, the system had a certain fairness about it. The way i see the current situation is that heterosexual men remain heterosexual yet increasingly despise women.

The other day i stumbled upon a post on a forum where a woman was asking what was the best course of action regarding her newborn baby's birth certificate so she could make as much cash as possible from the dad. Only one woman on that forum answered the way I expected. (that both parents have equal entitlement to be a part of their children's lives, etc)

It made me feel sick.

I have meditated on the issue and came to the conclusion that prostitutes are the best kind of woman there is in this modern world. You know what you get, and what it will cost you. No trickery, just plain honest business. compare a prostitute to little girls being taught to be gold diggers (by their mothers, and society at large), and the whole " I have boobs give me free stuff" business, or the "thanks for the kids, sorry you can't see them, you also won't get to screw me but I'll expect half your income anyway" situation. The prostitute definitely looks like the more honest and trustworthy person.

obviously this opinion is based on perception (I don't actually know any prostitutes, i have no ex-wife, no child support to pay, etc), but it seems to me that this social ill does indeed exist, and in my opinion, was caused by feminism.

Because feminism has always been about giving women more rights. not equal rights, not equal responsibilities. It is based on pure greed. to have what the others have, not to share what you have.

Convictions are more dangerous foes of truth than lies.

I know strong, beautiful women. I have never met one who wasn't. Simply some who didn't realize it. Self proclaimed feminists I have met(and dated) have only shared among them a distaste for atypical male behavior and a terrible story of abuse(generally their father, but usually someone they were close too). Some of whom mirrored that behavior. I don't know anything about the movement but I do know that I agree with people sticking up for what they feel is right.

I am going against my better judgement here. I swore I would not answer here but I am compelled to.

My wife is a strong woman, intelligent, beautiful, great mother and wife. I would never subjugate here in any way. Having said that, she does not believe in Feminism. She feels it is the wrong course. Equality, will never be won by force because in forcing your ideal upon another, you create an inequality in the opposite direction. The fight will continue on and on until the end of time. But so goes the history of the human race.

In the fire service women want to be hire, but they want to be hired under less strenuous testing procedures. Listen, a 250 lbs victim is a 250 lbs victim. They are not going to replace the victim with a 150 lbs victim just because a woman firefighter is going into the fire. If you can't perform the job for which the job requires you to perform, your not fit for the job...man or woman!

Look at it this way, would you send V-Tog into a burning building to carry Jestor out?

Feminism is a illusion as is all of these types of selfish endevours. If WE are to shatter the glass ceiling, provide equal opportunity and equal rights, WE must be truthful with ourselves, know our limitations, know our strengths, and pursue the path that is within the scope of our abilities. MAN OR WOMAN!

The guy in the video made some valid points, I've heard valid points on the other side, so I will leave you with this...

In order for any and all relationships to succeed, there must exist three things.

First, there must be your ability to listen to the other person. Don't just hear them, but truly listen and understand the message.

Second, you must tell the other person what you really, really want. They are not mind readers and do not know whats in your mind.

Third, THERE MUST BE COMPROMISE!! You are NOT the creator, and he has NOT left you in charge! If we work together, there is nothing we cannot accomplish.

There is a spectrum of feminism. It's popularly associated with the more extreme side because of the nature affirmative action, but it is meant to be about equal rights and accessibility. The lowering of standards to meet a gender quota to me would be an example of retrograde action for political reasons, and not affirmative action - certainly not center feminism. Politics and the media hijacks all things these days. A lot of bad affirmative action policy ideas do more harm then good to what feminism was/is meant to be.

Remove the gender from the equation to find out if its real feminism. Is the 120lb male firefighter allowed to join if he can pass the carry test? If so then the 120lb female firefighter should be allowed to join if she can pass the carry test. That has been my experience on the issue.

My wife would not call herself a feminist publicly because its been hijacked by extreme feminists, anti-feminists and the aforementioned media and politics, but she has worked at the top level in these areas with business and government and has explained it to me in agonizing detail

The idea that people baw over the fact that feminism only focuses on women as opposed to everyone irks me. I mean, come on. That's like whining that the Black Panther Party doesn't support White rights. It's a dumb idea.

As Adder said, "Feminism was a systematic reaction to a systematic problem that existed across the entire spectrum of society, much like racism did. It was a big thing, and still exists in varying degrees everywhere."

Is it necessary anymore? Absolutely. Being a man, I've heard the way other men talk about women, and most of the time it's like they're staring at a piece of meat, not a person. Women are objectified constantly, no matter where they go or what they do, and it's really sad. The fact is, men feel that they are entitled to women's bodies, and it's sickening.

And as for the few of you who may find/ have found legitimacy in MRA's (Men's Rights Activists)viewpoints or ideas... don't worry, you shall soon be saved, just go to this website and any faith you had in that "movement" will melt faster than a Nazi face in a Indiana Jones flick. :)

Now I could go on and on about wage gaps, the media and scented candles, but I don't want to rant for too awful long.

Just wanted to throw that opinion out there.

This is exactly what I mean. Man or Woman, the test is the test. If you can pass, you get the job. I have met some women that can do the job as well or better than some men. Welcome to the service.
