i am not yet a jedi knight by rank but i do defend the weak in a sense at least me and my family have built a patroling neighborhood watch where i live in a sense though not with voilence i do stand and defend those who need help it in my own opinion takes more then phisical conflict to be a knight knights are all around they may be volounteers at a food bank or other agency that helps people they might be a watchman like me they could be the individual who feeds the homeless guy on the street corner out of there own pocket the point is just because one has not been officialy knighted doesnt mean they cannot be called knight a knight is an honorable defender of the weak well you dont need to cut your enemys down with a sword to do that

Absolutely.

Even Me?

I thought I was being good....

I do tell some bad jokes occasionally, but I have never been officially warned...

I fully agree. And this is what I've been trying to say the whole time- you don't *need* a sword and shield to be a knight.

Dude, really?

How about a personal warning then?

After ren said to all to chill, you do this?

No need for additional personal warnings Jestor. Everyone got a final warning already.

Even Me?

I hate seeing people get banned over speaking their mind. This is the second time I've seen that in this community. But this time, even I have to admit, he had it coming.

It is always a sad day when diplomacy fails. :(

Did it fail? Or was that just "aggressive negotiations"? ;)

I agree, it is unfortunate, especially since the admins here give everyone plenty of chances, in various ways.

I'm still of the opinion that the motto "don't feed the trolls" would have served either side in that argument better than the approach that was used. If someone says something that you feel is erroneous, attempt to politely correct them. If someone attacks you fallaciously, politely "set them straight". But if, after you have "spoken your peace" the other side continues in their "attack" without making new points or adjusting their attitude, then it can be accurately said that they are simply trolling and should be ignored until such time as they learn to "behave". Banning someone from an online community is basically the same thing as sentencing someone to death. Not in that "final solution" kind of way. I'm not trying to say that banishment = death here. I'm saying that that's the one lesson that they cannot learn from. The only way in which a transgression can be "handled" that guarantees the transgressor either learns nothing at best and the absolute "wrong" thing at worst is to banish them from your community. Had he stayed, and we simply ignored this thread, then given him his deserved attention on other threads (meaning ignoring him everywhere he pops up until he's no longer a troll), he would have either learned how to communicate in a way we want to be communicated with (if we rewarded the "good" behavior, and he actually wanted to be a part of the community), or he would have left on his own once he grew bored of trying to goad us into arguments we simply refused to have. And I fully expect, if I ever exhibit trolling behavior, to be warned, and then ignored until my behavior is corrected. Shunning is an excellent social punishment. It works beautifully on anyone actually interested in being social, and the rest get bored and leave on their own.

Worst case scenario, you have to ignore a little bit of attitude for a few weeks, then the guilty party walks away bored after learning a thing or two about Jedi patience, wisdom, diplomacy, and compassion. I don't see the down.
