the underscore trait is actually a site security feature to help combat spam.

Whether or not its still implemented I dont know but if type a word like

Linking (and if thats underscored i'll have answered my own question) the underscore breaks up the link with the aim of making it not work.

Are you sure you want this 'feature'? I haven't looked at it at all, however it seems to me that the admin/moderator team is dedicated enough to prevent spam from making its way on the forum, not to mention some things need upgrade, hopefully when this is done (if it can be done) it will be more difficult for robots to signup, and the place will remain spam-free.

I'm only saying this because it really gives a hacked feeling to totjo, which is a bit of a turn-off, especially for potential new members.

BTW, I will not make many more changes to totjo. Mostly because I have other things to do. I suggest you discuss the cosmetic changes in public, look at how it could be done by yourselves...

Also when I've got the time I'll probably create a totjo dummy copy site for testing purposes. So that the admins can learn to control, test cosmetic alterations, potential upgrades, etc on that test site with no chance of breaking totjo.

I'm also compiling a document so that the administrators here learn how to keep the server up to date, make backups, etc.

note: apparently the yellow menu at the top doesn't show the way it should in IE...

That is what mine looks like, I use IE (my wife throws a fit when I tried to install firefox.. lol)...

Also ren, we were discussing profiles earlier, it seems I cannot edit my fireboard profile, is this the way it is now? I can edit the other one (My temple Space) but not the other....

just asking...

TBH honest - cosmetics are not important at this stage - the main functions are the important thing.

This isnt directed at anyone - I too have 'niggles' with totjo as it currently stands but anyway -

The point I wish to make is this - if it werent for Ren, Mark and others - there would NOT be a functioning TOTJO - there was recently a point where it was being discussed to start the site again, on another server FROM SCRATCH.

However - were back - with over 99% of the content intact - we are rid of great number of unnecessary trouble causing scripts, we are now NOT sharing bandwidth width 'other' sites - we have a cleaner meaner faster TOTJO.

So IF you have suggestions, ideas etc - great, let us know and we'll do what we can to implement them - but as always PLEASE remember that we all have life outside of TOTJO to think about, family, work, schooling, etc etc etc to think about and we squeeze in TOTJO in our 'free time'.

In this freetime - not only do we have 'serverside' things to do - we have the public end things to do too.

So please please please be patient - we'll get it done sooner or later but 'pretty lights' type stuff just is not important in all honesty.

I dont mean to offend anyone with this post.

It is also nothing new to find a site looks different depending on the browser being used to access the site - i believe there was a time where google chrome couldnt load our site at all.

Different browsers do make a difference. For example, until the latest release of Opera, Opera showed half a page of gibberish and the Shout and recent articles did not show at all.

It's something of a miracle we did not get hacked more often before now. On the previous server there were so many openings that we were literally inviting an attack.

The site is very secure now. It is extremely stable now.

Note that Ctrl + makes the print larger and Ctrl - makes it smaller.

We are lucky to have this site and its over four year history and all its work survive and I have good safe redundant local copies of the backup.

Another major blessing is folks can now edit their OWN sigs (the area at the bottom of any of their posts) - which free's up valuable admin time :)

We will still happily help if it is required though.

Everything is looking great ren... Some of the changes were much neede, some I simply prefer, some, it makes no difference, just have to get used to them....

I still question how to find a persons fireboard profile... I still cannot edit mine...

second, when in a thread, folks like myself and Kana and John, who have ICQ, MSN, Yahoo info icons... the icons are.... not right? They look like what happens when the picture images do not load....

You are doing great....

yes, apparently to get the sigs working the rest has to break :(

The point in the future would be to migrate to a newer version of Joomla, so I wont do too much work on this one. Fireboard needs to be upgraded first so we'll see If things magically repair, but don't hope for too much.
