Site Problems / Errors

I have changed the server config for performance. everything should still work as it did (chat is still broken some permissions still prevent uploads). I've been concentrating with John on getting email to work properly. We'll look at other issues such as permission and cosmetic changes later on.

Also, I do like my Avatar in the upper right corner, but I do miss the choices that were there.... I think the were something like

If those could be up there, or maybe they can't, I really liked those as I could compose, or whatever, without clicking the messages button we now have...

And while I am whining about things, lol....:blush:

The current, and old way to look at a persons profile is weird...

If you go to the right column, click on my name, it brings up 1 profile view, from which you cannot PM..

If you go into a thread, and click 'profile' under my avatar, you get another profile view that will take you to a different view where you can PM... look at their posts, etc....

If you search for a person in the 'lookup', you get the \"can't PM one\"... I went looking for RyuJin the other day to send a PM asking how he was... I had a heck of a time....

Is this a charateristic of forums such as this? or just one of our quirks like when you type something and it puts the underscores in your words?

I'm just asking as I do look at peoples profiles for ages and locations if they are new and have not yet posted...

There have always been 2 profiles. Well, three actually. there is the standard joomla profile (useless). There is the community builder profile (wich is what totjo uses to register people, show profiles, galleries, etc), and there is the forum (fireboard) profile. This means people hav two avatars. one for the forum, one for the main site.

This is all just as it was before.

The modules on the right were changed to save cosmetic space as well as make the site faster and more secure. before there were three modules to do what only one could do just fine.

below the avatar on the right there is \"You have no new private messages\" which changes to \"you have 1 private message\" when you've got a message. Clicking on that will take you to your pm inbox. In that inbox at the top you'll see icons such as:

Outbox
Trashcan
Archive
Contacts
Compose


When you click on the who's online names you'll be taken to that person's profile. If it is your own profile you will not get the opportunity to pm yourself. If it is someone else you will see a \"messages\" box at the top. hovering that box brings a menu giving the opportunity to send a pm or send an email.



I *think* it is possible to hookup the forum to use the main siteprofile and pm system. However some forum-specific features might get lost. I'll look into it.

When reading the forum, the avatar on the left has buttions underneath it, one of them is pm. THIS PM will work.
