"Non-White Jedi" Discussions
- http://verysmartbrothas.com/?s=white+privilege&submit= This whole site is gold. It explores many black perspectives. Remember to scroll down to the comments and see the culture we share not just the color.

- http://www.tolerance.org/article/racism-and-white-privilege It wouldn't hurt to explore the entire site.
- http://www.wakemag.org/sections/voices/why-does-media-representation-matter See how POC have been silenced in the media
- https://blackwomenofbrazil.co/2015/02/27/real-talk-why-black-television-representation-matters/ More on representation. This is a site just for black Brazilian women. Minorities need a space in every sphere.

How predictable. All of us need to be "educated" (though you have no shortage of supporters, so maybe you mean the whole site minus your fanclub?), because if we disagree with your perspective we must be ignorant at best, racist at worst?mahoganygipson wrote: This entire site needs education. The articles are ridiculous. From tolerance.org -- White people purposefully implement racial bias so they can get perks like hair care products? Whites don't get civil rights organizations to champion white causes. Whites don't have race specific scholarships. Whites don't get race specific business opportunities. Whites don't get special dispensation to riot when a white person is killed in hate crimes. But no sweat, because whites can buy the cheap bandaids that will match our skin tone (they don't, actually). Priorities and perspectives, I can't even fathom, and that's what you suggest this "entire site" needs to learn from?
You've definitely changed my mind and the ideological and cultural differences are indeed clear. Even more clear, is that I don't have a shovel big enough for this BS. So -- I'll gladly bow out of this one and make certain that in the future I don't trespass into the "non-white" space of the forum.

Everyone is seeking education here, thus the point of this site....

I could go on about topics that many here don't know about....
Just as I couldn't understand what you've been through, you do not see what it like to be in any other shoes but your own....
Just making a point....

On walk-about...
Sith ain't Evil...
Jedi ain't Saints....

Most specifically, I would refer to the section that reads Jedi Believe...
In a society that does not discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation or circumstances of birth such as gender, ethnicity and national origin.
In the ethic of reciprocity, and how moral concepts are not absolute but vary by culture, religion and over time.
In the positive influence of spiritual growth and awareness on society.
We are Jedi, but not only Jedi. However, here in our Temple we are Jedi first. At least that should be our goal. When in doubt, lets set ego aside and go back to the basics of practicing patience and compassion.

What, because people disagree with you, you think they're flocking around another person mindlessly, as a "fan club"? I don't even know the person who posted this thread. I respect and appreciate what they have to say, but that's about it right now.
If you have to lower yourself to the point of making personal attacks, you're not really interested in a constructive conversation anymore, are you? Why did you even post here if you weren't interested in that?

Been white in Japan
Been a soldier in Iraq
Been a Christian in Iraq
Been the only white kid in my class a few times
Was the only white family in my neighborhood for 7 years
Been told that there was no way I could be as intelligent as I am without college education
There are two things I really enjoy about the Internet-
1) Your race doesn't matter, unless you make it matter.
2) Your level of education doesn't mean anything, only how well you construct your communications with others.
The reason I find these things of such great value, is that it wasn't until I became a civilian that race or education became factors of how I had to interact with others. The internet is just like my life before I became a civilian. Some of you I've met in person or spoken with in voice through a phone, Skype or other such method, most of you I haven't interacted outside of text.
I rather know the person, and how they rejoice their culture- not how they abhor it, or how they abhor what they think mine is. You can't be rich until you drop the hate.
