Anyone who says people "think too much" may misunderstand the nature of thinking.

In India it is not uncommon for a girl to be murdered by her brothers or father in order to restore the families dignity.
In certain parts of Africa its considered acceptable to rape babies (in the belief that sex witha virgin cures AIDS)
In some Christian groups its considered acceptable to violently attack pro abortion lobbiests.
In many parts of the world its still acceptable to stone, beat or even execute homosexuals.

While I could go on with examples of things that I personally find offensive and against my own moral code, the people who carry out these attrocities are also, solid in their moral codes and dont question them. Rigid and blind belief is not only a comfort zone which stifles us, but is also one of the most dangerous things humans are capable of.

Perhaps people dont think enough.

I don't have much to add to this ...

People do plenty of "thinking", but it is the "crap thinking" that leads to trouble. This is why I don't value 'opinions' as "rights".

It would be wise to develop the competency of critical thinking and methodical doubt, of not accepting certain ideas just because "everyone thinks that" or "it's always been like that", or even the stupidity of "the greater good for the greater number ..." (serving in-Justice to a minority does not make it Justice).

One has to be very careful of levying one's own variety of Justice ... after all, Justice and Revenge are as different from one another as a kiss and a kick in the :S   s.

Thinking is less the problem as would be speaking too much. People tend to say so much more than they should with very little thought as to the implications of their words. What this world needs is less talk, more thought, and a far greater amount of listening. However, this being a discussion board, and not an actual meeting hall, we are forced to post our thoughts in order to interact. Listening here equates to lurking, and nobody likes a troll. ;)
