Also, there is an incorrigible amount of logical thinking that goes on around here and logic doesn't like simple ideals or a lack of information. Try mentioning a list of "jedi skills" or a definition for the term "jedi monk" and watch people come out of the woodwork with "why that doesn't make sense".

Truth be told, though, the best ideas have to stand up even though they've been riddled with bullets if they want to keep going, and the ones that do become stronger for it. Discussing these things and reading the pitfalls and concerns of others is a tremendous advantage. Like they say in the printing world "never proof your own work". I've been planning the very same thing(at least, conceptually) and what I plan on doing has changed dramatically from when I first started. A lot of that was thanks to things people wrote here, things I had never considered.

Also, there will never be a shortage of people in your life with the word "no" on their lips.

Which is the point I'm trying to make. I think criticism is not necessary in refining ALL subjects.

This project isn't meant for "mass production". It's not meant to satisfy other people. It's meant to be a part of his life. If he keeps putting his soul out for criticism, somebody could very easily tear it apart. And, he might have nothing left.

It's not about making the best idea, right now. It's about learning to live the life your soul has in mind for you.

Me too :woohoo: It's currently all about using a solo mountain with a traditional Temple at the top and dwellings down the slopes, with training facilities in the surrounding flatlands... but who wants to trudge up and down all the time and what about disabled Jedi

it is a jedis duty to serve the greater good ...i am mearly trying to find the most efficiant wat to make that happen .....if a lost soul wishes to learn the jedi way then i will teach them ...it is not a secret path i mearly wish for a clarity of mind ...and as far as the iccoragable amount of logical thinking ...logic is simple what is and what isnt what is possible and what is not what is right and what is wrong to interject to much clouds the judgment

I had the same thoughts when I first started on the Path. 16 years later allow me to impart a piece of wisdom. Because you don't want to be in my shoes 16 years from now. You want to be a Jedi Success story. You want to be a prime example, a role-model, a paragon of the Jedi Path. So please heed this.

You cannot. Let me absolutely clear about one fundamental fact. You CANNOT just be a Jedi. You must be a Jedi Within Everyday Life. This is the sucky reality. But man I wish I had someone there to tell me that 16 years ago. I devoted my life to nothing else but Jedi. And it has cost me much more than rewarded me. Have I gained? Have I grown? Absolutely. But I had to take the very long way around so understand this now - You must Live as a Jedi. But the Jedi cannot support your Life.

Jedi is not a Career. Jedi is not something that will sustain you by itself. A core part of being a Jedi is personal well-being. Physical, Emotional, Mental, Spiritual, Social, Environmental, and even Financial. You must find your own path to financial well-being. That doesn't mean being rich or even owning a house. But it does mean finding what works for you in being financially independent.

No Temple, No Monastery exists without Funding. The Jedi are not and should not seek to live off the grants of the government. Jedi should not seek to be a charity. Donations. Government Assistance. This is what it would take to Fund and Continually Fund a Jedi Temple. It requires money. No one can just be a Jedi. Living in a Temple and going off on missions.

But here is what you can do. Live as a Jedi. Police Officer. Nurse. Firefighter. EMT. Personal Trainer. Life Coach. Teacher. Professor. Find the element that speaks to you and make it your Career. Find the concept of Jedi that truly speaks to you. Jedi Guardian? Martial Arts Instructor. Jedi Historian? Librarian. Jedi Mystic? Institute of Alternative Medicine.

Being a Jedi is about integration. The best Jedi, the real Jedi Master is the one who has made their Life Jedi. Do not make Jedi Your Life. Make Your Life Jedi. If you can master that - I promise you everything you are dreaming of, everything you are hoping for, all those elements of the Path that scream to you, they will come true. Make Your Life Jedi.

The most efficient way to make it happen is to just do it and not complicate it.

I think the point so many people miss is that it's possible to completely devote yourself to being a Jedi in your every day life... In your job, in raising your children, in dealing with the every day mundane.

Building a monestary isn't going to make it easier or more convenient for you to do this. If you can't do it in your every day life now, then it won't happen in a monestary either. You will simply be faced with other challenges that in your view keep you from completely devoting yourself to the Jedi path. When really it's not these challenges and life itself keeping you from it. It's just you.

You also have to consider the expense of running a monestary. It's not going to pay for itself and people likely won't just give you money. This means you're going to have to offer something of value that people want in order to raise your funds. Just another thing that will keep you from fully focusing on being a Jedi.

What I'm trying to say is...why wait for the "ideal conditions" in order to devote yourself fully? Why not just figure out how you can do it in every aspect of your life right now in this moment?

Yes. I love this about the Jedi path: it weaves through the world rather than stagnating in one place. Unlike the many multitudes of callings where the upper echelons of ability require great seclusion, repetition or single-mindedness, in my mind one can only be a good Jedi by getting on with their life, cultivating a broad range of wisdom, numerous skills and interests, and meeting a lot of other people.

I think we're incredibly lucky! :)

Well said Opie!
