Counters for sale !
Not so fussed about thank yous. I'm not opposed to the thank you counter, but I'm not particularly bothered about arguing for its reinstatement.

Playing games and turning a tool into a competition is not bad and it is not good. It is part of human nature. Rather than take that away would it not be better to point out folly? We preach tolerance and understanding… so why is it that when something comes up we don’t like we get rid of it?
I am not a fan of rap music, but that does not mean I think it should be banned. I just don’t listen to it. I know that others may like it and it is not my place to decide what you should listen to.
I feel that the counters should be restored; think of it as practice in tolerance and an opportunity to teach others.
We are a church, a philosophy path, whatever you want to call us. Like I mentioned in a previous post, when I went to a brick and mortar church, we didn't put a sign on people that had the most profile views or had the most friends; that's kind of silly. Why do it at a virtual Temple?
I like rap music, but I'm not going to play Jay Z at my mother's funeral.
A time and place for everything...
I applaud the counters being removed, and I would also applaud the "friends" counter being removed, too. But, if they aren't, it is my lesson in tolerance.

I am fortunate to have the friends I do at this Temple, I count you as one of them, but I don't understand the need to display them. Call them contacts and hide them for your own use just like we do with email contacts; you don't know who my email contacts are, we don't need to know who is friends with who; we are a temple open to the friendship of all.
Just my take from the minority position. I'm not begging anyone to change anything, haha, I can live/tolerate whatever decision is made.

It will take a little time to adjust to the new stuff. Where do I find the list of thankyous given and received?

I was talking to a friend earlier and I said something like…
Besides, wouldn't it be easier to show someone how to avoid temptation if there were something tempting? It's easy to say, I don't have that problem when there is nothing there to tempt you. It's a whole different thing when what you want is right there and you turn it down.
Just thinking out loud I guess.I just don't see them as a problem.
And I didn't witness people abusing it, so I don't really know. I did see people start attacking them (when the site first came up), but I never saw anyone abuse it. Not saying it didn't happen, I just didn't see it.
And I still go to a brick and mortar church most Sundays and there are little things they do to recognize people in the bulletin. Every Sunday, in the back of the bulletin there is at least one page of calling people out for things they have done to contribute or groups they’re in or whatever. Sure, I bet to some people it is a popularity contest! I have noticed it because I don’t always pay attention during the sermon… I’m human!

Hahahhha :woohoo:
I’m not trying to be difficult; I just don’t see what the problem is. And I don’t see why it bothers others. Maybe I’m nuts!?!?

lol....
Shoot, listen to the "Church Gossip" people, tempted to say shut up... lol..
Temptation and popularity contests exist everywhere...
We shouldn't seek it, but, neither should it bother us, if we see it in others...
No one is without some fault..

(Dont care if they are here or not, like I said, I do use them, as others have said... But I do enjoy the counter discussion of how the vanity of others shouldn't bother us... We should worry about ourselves and how we carry ourselves....)

Time for something more light-hearted as I believe I've beaten the dead horse to a good and tender consistency and I will withdraw to the disappointment of my hundreds of listed friends of the Temple of the Jedi.........oh wait.

I think he meant you can look at posts and see who has thanked them...

Who should care and who should judge if something as being Jedi or not?
Get rid of the all or keep them all. Let the members decide what they like to use or not use. I think it's more Jedi to be more inclusive and expansive rather than restrictive. Let it all hang out!
If you don't like stuff don't use them. If someone else likes it let them use them. This is an open minded place, isn't it?
