Each one of these character showed great strength as a leader, walked the Hero path and suffered the costs of being a true hero. They all have made a huge impact on me growing up and despite them all having flaws tell an amazing story. Each one, even Vader has good qualities to him that are respectable and honorable. I have always tried to hold onto these qualities and though I am certainly not perfect I kinda think to myself, "What would Jason of done?" I know that sounds crazy but, I do have a deep connection to these characters. I really enjoyed this post thank you.

Torak and Wolf, and more than that their relationship from the Chronicles of Ancient Darkness series
Joe Haak from Not Forgetting The Whale
Fiver from Watership Down
Moominpapa and Snufkin from the Moomin books
Death from The Sandman
Thought I'd expand on this a little.
Snufkin from the Moomin books:
Today we must do something very special, for it will be a glorious day.
One can never be truly free if one admires others too much.
Walking was easy because his rucksack was almost empty and he didn’t have to worry about anything. Snufkin was pleased with the forest, the weather and himself. Tomorrow and yesterday were equally distant from him now, for just at that moment the bright red sun was shining down from between the birch trees, and the air was cool and mild.
“I’ll come when it suits me” said Snufkin, “perhaps I shan’t come at all. I just may set off in another direction entirely.”
“I live all over the place” answered Snufkin, and put the coffee pot on the fire. “Today I happen to be here. Tomorrow I will be somewhere else. I wander about as I please. When I find a place I like, I pitch my tent and play my harmonica.”
No one spoke. Then Snufkin said slowly “it would be awful if the world exploded. It is so wonderfully splendid.”
“You can believe what you want” said Snufkin, blithely.
Snufkin wandered about southwards, stopping to pitch his tent from time to time and to let the time pass. He traveled without a plan, looking about him without much thought, remembering nothing and sleeping a great deal.
I know. Everything gets so difficult if you want to own things. You have to carry them around and watch over them. I just look at them- and then when I continue on my way I can remember them in my head. I prefer that to dragging a suitcase.
I own everything I see and everything that pleases me. I own the entire world.
Snufkin picked up the hut made of spruce branches and threw it into the juniper bushes. “That’s what you should do with a house after you’ve lived in it” he said.

And, I suppose, Dream, for reciting this poem:
Death is before me today:
like the recovery of a sick man,
like going forth into a garden after sickness.
Death is before me today:
like the odor of myrrh,
like sitting under a sail in a good wind.
Death is before me today:
like the course of a stream;
like the return of a man from the war-galley to his house.
Death is before me today:
like the home that a man longs to see,
after years spent as a captive.
-From "Dialogue of a Misanthrope with His Soul" (ca 2000 BC), now called "Dispute between a man and his Ba," from a papyrus of the Middle Kingdom of Egypt.

Severus Snape: A man that did what was needed even when it meant he had to do things he hated, be alone, and die a villain in most peoples eyes. (Seriously you want to see a fight watch the people in the HP fandom that can't see past the role he played) ( And I am super guilty for getting into this fight because I love the character)
Batman: He taught me that great things are possible if you master yourself and plan ahead.
Willow: When I felt bad about my height as a child he taught me that its the size of the fight in you not your size that matters.
Luna Lovegood: She was not only aware of the world for what it really was but she was kind and loyal in spite of the world treating her poorly.

Gandalf from Tolkien Lord of the Rings - Not all adventures are won through the sword, but rather through wisdom
Harry Potter from JK Rowling - Bravery to do what one must comes with a heavy responsibility
Xena - Even a girl can be bad ass

Hercules - Having good qualities doesn't always equal out to positive ends. You just have to embrace it and keep pushing through life trials.
But not all fictional teachers are singular
Redwall from Brian Jacques had many many characters that taught me that simplicity can be just as rewarding as grand adventures
Tennis Shoes Among the Nephites by Chris Himerdinger also had many great characters that took us through many adventures that taught us the importance of discretion and the ability to make "Right" decisions no matter how difficult the follow through is - rather than decisions towards easy paths.
