you cant transcend that which is fundamental - thats part of what the word fundamental means
at a fundamental level, life is tenuous and we are vulnerable, and thats just the basic reality that we were born into
whoever wants to is perfectly free to argue and battle for their "right" to be mediocre or to be coddled
i believe that we are all capable of being exceptional and i have a view of "jedi" that is not consistent with or very tolerant of the desire to be coddled, or mediocrity as an acceptable limit to personal ambition
but the cool thing about freedom is that we're all free to decide for ourselves what our aspirations should be
untold numbers of people woke up this morning thinking it was just another day, and are now dead
unless youve been given some special assurance from god that this isnt going to happen to you, id say that youre in the same existential condition as the rest of us, which is that there arent any assurances
