I think we should all go now before someone opens a bottle of Jagermeister and suggests we put all our keys in a bowl...

ya know, religious 'habit', being a "distinctive set of garments worn by members of a religious order."!!!
I think I already made this joke once this year :pinch:

With rare exception the majority of you are faceless entities that I only get to interact with in a two dimensional world on a limited basis concerning a very finite set of issues. Generally in this sort of setting you don't get to know the real person in a real world setting, only the persona they portray on a website. So I don’t come here for family. Sure there are exceptions as sometimes I come across someone I want to get to know better and so they end up in my profile and I take the extra time to interact with them more. But as far as a familial association I have my own real life clan and my spiritual tribe for that.
It’s not the Doctrine that brings me here. In fact I find a lot of the doctrine lacking and in need of refinement, addition and just general modification. Now I’m not saying that is the case for anyone else but myself. In fact I have taken the components of the doctrine here that did speak to me and have added them to a personal code I have already built over a lifetime of searching and study.
I come here for the conflict. The challenge of the conflict I find in philosophical debate on the boards to my own personal worldview and the challenge of the educational conflicts I find in the study path to my own spiritual background and the challenge of the more intimate conflict between my training master and I as he dares me to look beyond my horizons and see what is past that next rise. Without conflict there is no growth. In that growth we suffer under the chains of our own preconceived notions. If each day we don’t take every opportunity to challenge ourselves to break those chains under the burden of further refinement or radical evolution of our worldview, life becomes meaningless.
This place is the current vehicle I have chosen to do this.

I completely understand.
It is also why I have said that I see everyone here as just a blank canvas and it is what they post that builds the picture of them. And as you just stated; that is just the picture they post online.
I have been thiking about this since I saw it posted.
I think that some may find my answer lacking and some may understand. but why I come here day after day is... Duty.
The conversations, interactions with others, reading what people have written are all pretty much bonuses. Almost like a side note. I primarily log in time after time because I have a duty to do so. I have duties to be fulfilled. And people rely on the senior members to do so to keep things running so that everyone has this place to come that helped us along our path to where we are now.
And one day, someone will take my place and I will move on as well. It's just how life goes. The old makes way for the new.

But don't worry, that day has not come for me yet. You're all stuck with me for quite a while to come. LOL

I lost it here a few years back, thought I'd backtrack my steps.
Looking for Hope
I lost it on Nov 8. Figured I'll look for it while I was here looking for my faith.
