The people. I've never found anywhere else that has such incredibly diverse and genuinely wonderful people.
The doctrine and the forum. I learn something literally every time I log in. Both from the teachings and from other people's experiences.
The chance to belong and to contribute. I love being a part of TOTJO even when it drives me crazy. And I would do anything for this place and its people.

Honestly? Most days it's just a desire to help. Not that I get very far with that, but still.

A doctrine that speaks to me - especially eastern wisdom within a western context - brings me back. I've seen such enormous and wonderful changes in my life thanks to what I've learned here.

Also, people that have come to mean a lot to me. Y'all are not just a username on a screen, but real people. Many of whom I now consider to be brothers, sisters and friends. Especially my teaching master and apprentice-brothers :)

For me it's definitely the people. I've made some amazing friends here and always look forward to meeting up with them in chat or on the forums. The training also keeps me coming back, though.

“Though, as the crusade presses on, I find myself altogether incapable of staying here in saftey while others shed their blood for such a noble and just cause. For surely must the Almighty be with us even in the sundering of our nation. Our fight is for freedom, for liberty, and for all the principles upon which that aforementioned nation was built.” - Patrick “Madman of Galway” O'Dell

I've been in "Jedi" forums since at least 2002, on and off, sometimes actively participating, sometimes just lurking. I must admit, and this is me - I speak for no one else - that for a long time online forums were an escape. I escaped boredom, I escaped having to actually deal with life. It was fun to be online, respected, loved, admired even, and have anyone you deal with be completely oblivious to my particular reality. At some points, it seemed depressingly funny, speaking to other members who were Knights, High Councillers, or whatever title they chose to make up.

"I'm a Jedi super master High Counciller black belt!... and I am currently jobless and living in my mother's basement".

I became quite aware of it too, which is why I made the conscious decision to just go away for stretches of years at a time. Yet the "jedi" name that drew me for a reason I did not particularly understand, and would not understand until doing the IP here, kept me coming back to Jedi sites.

This time, however, I am glad to be among people who are completely without a thrist for going aboard the ego-train and having others kiss their feet. People here are flawed, sure, we all are, but we are authentic. And despite how easy is to lie and be an asshole online, people here are friendly, because they are truly united in that connection we call empathy, and in a spirit of community, to nourishing the Jedi that lives in each of us.

Thank you.

The pessimist complains about the wind;
The optimist expects it to change;
The realist adjusts the sails.

I find the yellow and brown background pleasing (It matches my colourbond steel fences and drain pipes)

I can remember my password.

The site is simple enough to not be a massive drag on my fairly mediocre internet connection.

I can't wait to see how Snowy will be snarky next, or Marta be politely optimistic, or Ob1 to textramble. I imagine Leah has a funny french canadian accent, and Brick is desperately trying to redefine what it means to be a young brit.

and Kit is the most interesting dedicated mum, weary NCO with a Fursona I know :P

I dislike the colours yellow and brown and they match nothing in my house because no one i know likes yellow and brown loll so much for being optimistic , well , maybe we can turn the colours into purple and pink , that would liven up the place would not it ? :P
