instead of expecting a group to become powerful for you, begin with cultivating your own Personal Power
One useful way to conceptualize Power is the ability to achieve goals and consciously develop useful habits:
In general, cultivating power means developing control over ones behavior and increasing personal competence, capabilities, and resources.
Possessing more power than one has the maturity to handle can ruin a persons life. They will make decisions that they cannot sustain and eventually crash or burn out. Power is a curse for those who do not have the discipline and sobriety to manage it. The basic formula for safely and effectively acquiring power is to progressively achieve intelligent goals, to develop empowering habits, and to maintain those habits over long durations of time.
People who have (and effectively manage) power can achieve many goals, and difficult ones, and successfully powerful individuals have always developed a lot of useful habits. People with only a little power can achieve only a few, smaller goals, and this is where most of us start out. Just like money, the trick to getting Power is in already having some and in using it wisely. We all have power enough to identify and achieve goals that are intelligent and appropriate to out own life circumstances. This where we start.
Power comes from consistency. It is a consequence of sustained effort and smart choices. Every goal you achieve is a little more Power cultivated. Attempting goals and not quite reaching them is an important and instructional partsof the process, so dont be afraid to set difficult goals, and dont frame it as abject failure if a goal doesnt manifest the way you wanted it to. But do be honest, and set goals that are appropriate to your capabilities. Its better to set and achieve a hundred small, specific goals, over the course of years, that improve us in some minor way even though they mean nothing to anyone else, than to waste whatever power we've got plotting to walk on mars before we even have a job, or to become Mr Olympia before we even own a weight bench.
Some goals are much better than others, because they end up being more useful/beneficial over time; focus especially on those. But the important thing in the beginning is to set goals that we can achieve, and stick with them until theyre accomplished.

id like to point something out to you in response to that idea...
And yet, some of you, after pledging your allegiance to the code, still insist on voting for that buffoon Trump.
after declaring that "we would always use [our power] for good" the very next thing you do is to use your power to attack fellow jedi who plan on using their power in a way that you think is not good enough.

They say that because it can, but, then that would appear to be the case, depending on what side of the power you are on...
If I had 'the power", lets say...
To those who agree with me, I am perfectly within my rights and responsibilities...
To those who disagree, I am abusing my power...

Who would decide "good"?
Is closing our "borders good"? By that, I mean economically as well... Not just literally... (Think like TOTJO... Everyone can join and participate, but we do not get to riled up at what other sites say or do... They do their thing, we do ours)
How do you know any of us would vote for Trump? (Was it discussed in another thread?)
Jedi are outnumbered, so, based on votes, we could all use our votes for anyone else, but, the public may still vote him in...
On walk-about...

Jedi ain't Saints....

Maybe more specific then: Those with power tend to use it. Naturally it's not just black and white but all sorts of colors in between. To use another idiom perhaps: To someone using a hammer to solve problems, every problem looks like a nail.
It's just some problems aren't and they just get squashed or broken by the application of blunt force trauma
