I will say one thing about cooking, its good to use smell, make sure any flours are puffed up into the air to create a nice atmosphere, and see how the smells change when combined, and cooked...

...but not so much at the other end of the eating

I'm into layers of flavors and creativity from simple ingredients. Love to bake bread! I find cooking relaxing. It centers me.

I wonder how many people around here cook? Do most eat out and prepared food?

i work as a cook....while i enjoy cooking things at home, doing so as a job is tedious...at work the food is bland and generic since we have to feed a wide array of dietary needs...i'm not fond of it in the least...at home when i cook it's creative and flavorful, i'm allowed free reign in the seasonings, i can mix things and experiment....it's enjoyable...

I love to cook. My family has a strong Italian heritage of cooking. As a matter of fact, today I was at my mothers house cooking calzones for Easter. My specialty is egg plant parmesan. I make, what I call, Rusty's World Famous Burritos. Halloween Chili or Hunters Chili is another favorite. My version of Olive Gardens Zupa Toscana is better than theirs.

I have, at last count, 182 different spices, herbs, and mixed seasoning blends. I have 10-12 different salts which include, French Grey, Himalayan, Alderwood, Hawaiian Black, Hickory, Garlic, Kosher, Sea, regular table, and several others. Did you know curry has 9 different types? I didn't until I went to Penzey's, then I had to have them all!

I pamper my chef the best I can, and eat what she creates...

She is an excellent cook, and I'm just OK, I spice too heavy for her,....

But, since meeting you, I try to be a good "assistant chef", lol... ;)

I used to cook for a living. All in all I've spent about 5 years as a cook. I kind of lost my love for it though. I do still enjoy now and then. Tomorrow I'm preparing a lovely dish of chicken parmesan. I'm pretty geeked do that.

I cook two a day some times three. I can plan though it takes time and effort I admit, the end result is worth the wait
