Changes to Login and User Dashboard

We are testing a change on the front page where Community Builder will start taking over the user dashboard and activity feed instead of EasySocial. EasySocial has been giving us some compatibility issues after the upgrade, so this is part of making the site more stable going forward.

For awhile now, we have had some serious technical issues at Force Academy. It's been a nuisance, and a pain in my side. XD Which, happens to be the same case as what happened in 2009 when we moved from the .com to the .co.uk

As it stands, there is a group of people in the group that are hopeful to rebuild Force Academy under a new domain. For now, because the site is being finicky, one of the earliest members of the Dark Aspect has surfaced and set up a "raft" site to help develop our final home at a .us domain. One thing that Satelle has expressed is that she wants to know that there is a real interest in rebuilding FA from the ground up, and as such she is inviting members from across the community that may have an interest in the order to come onto the raft site to help out.

If you're interested, the raft is at http://theforce.knowsitall.info/index.php

Do you want ForceAcademy.org to forward to that address for now. It's going to the .uk one at the moment?

It is a free hosted site which uses a Dynamic DNS, which is why it raises red flags.

Just to be sure, send me by PM all your financial information, and I will keep it safe for you.

It’s not being renamed. Unless you mean changing the domain from .co.uk to .org/.us.

This move was necessary because colin wasn’t working with us. We wanted more direct control over the site so changes could be made and issues could be resolved in a timely manner.

That was more important to us, as it will be easy enough to redirect people from the .co.uk.

Ah. Forgive my missunderstanding since this "Raft" site has a completely different name than force academy and the mention of a "Domain Name" - the two together seemed to imply a complete name change and not just the .com/ect ect

I understand the need for greater control over administrations - I am not questioning the move or motive :) meerly the preservation of the sites origins.

Wouldn't your job as a historian be to simply observe and record the change, not necessarily have an opinion or influence on it?

One thing that Satelle has expressed is that she wants to know that there is a real interest in rebuilding FA from the ground up, and as such she is inviting members from across the community that may have an interest in the order to come onto the raft site to help out.

Sounds like selling off the assets, raising a new company, and trading off the reputation and goodwill of the old brand to the benefit of the new shareholders.

I don't really know anything about, nor am I invested in FA, but if Satelle and Co have views of a new "Ground Up" jedi realist club, perhaps just start again afresh?

you won't be able to say "FA, Est: 1866" but I guess if you're changing everything that is a philosophical issue anyway - of the lincolns axe variety.

I don't mean to be rude but getting detected as a phishing site is pretty bad. I also fail to see how it has anything to do with dynamic dns since geodns is the norm these days(and you guessed right, it's dynamic). Totjo has a dynamic dns setup (although weve only got the one server operating on one public interface), and i note colin has deployed ssl, which is rather detached from the "improved" phishing site...

This new site runs on the cheap, someone's home pc. It uses no ssl and won't. It's on a subdomain.info= neither style nor control.

Sorry if i do not share your enthusiasm for what appears to be nothing more than a useless political exercise.

0_o oh yes. Because historians are brainless droids with no opinion that only follow your definition of them ;) LoL

We were asked for opinion. I gave mine in the spirit of preserving history. Don't like it? Too bad ;)

Ah yes, I said that, in those words.
You missed the bit where I said defensive :P

Changing the name changes the future, not the history ;)

You're welcome to your opinion on change, my point was rather than I'm not sure the "as a historian" is a useful qualifier :P

I was being annoying and pedantic, not attacking your validity as a human, or Jedi nerd :P

Yes. You are always quite annoying.

Regardless of how you feel about the title I used for myself. I <-- which is more important than you --> felt it held credence to the purpose of my concern. Which is all that matters and has been since resolved.

Your attempt at being annoying and pedantic as you say is far more useless then my use of a title. Just sayin :)

Ren et al.,

This site, as it stands, is meant ONLY for redesigning the Force Academy. It is not intended to be the final destination of the site.

Triss,

Understood. I am sure the final product will be called ForceAcademy.____.

I Disagree :cheer: :silly: :cheer: :silly: :cheer:

(that's me, ROFLMAOing at my own wit)

I suppose that's an interesting question, and the softcore jedis will probably side with you on this one - What is more useless, internal or external influence?

I'm trying to add more views to your world, you're trying to cleanse and solidify your internal definition of yourself.

Ah I see. If i may chip in i'd advise you guys figure out what's wrong with your phpbb setup and keep everything else static-ish, don't bother with something like joomla, the software packages for it are incredibly poor quality.
